Everyone cannot stop talking about the cast of the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie. That’s right, they’re making a new film based off of the iconic video game series, and you’re not going to believe who is starring in it! For those who missed it, news recently hit the web that Nintendo was partnering with Illumination Entertainment — the animation studio behind Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets and Sing — to make the highly anticipated flick, which will hit theaters on December 21, 2022.
And while most people are super excited about the announcement, some fans are not here for the cast. Why? Well, many people have pointed out that the cast isn’t very diverse, and they feel that Italian actors should play Mario and Luigi. Wondering who is going to star in the film? Chris Pratt Is Going To Play Mario

Fans probably recognize Chris Pratt from his roles in the Jurassic World movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, Passengers, Parks and Recreation, The Lego Movie, Her, Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, The O.C. and tons more! And according to the actor, he couldn’t be more excited to play Mario.
“There was a coin-operated laundromat near my house and it had Super Mario Bros., the original arcade game,” he said. “Oh, I loved that game.”
But then he admitted that he never had enough money to play! Pratt continued, “I’m really excited to announce that I’m gonna be the voice of that video game that I dreamed about playing as a kid. Dreams come true.”
