Meghan Markle Celebrates 42nd Birthday as Royal Family Ignores with No Public Birthday Wish
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, turned 42 on Friday, but there were no public birthday wishes from senior members
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, turned 42 on Friday, but there were no public birthday wishes from senior members of the royal family. Unlike the previous year, where official Twitter accounts, including those of Prince William and Prince Charles, publicly shared birthday wishes for Meghan, this year, there was silence from the royal family’s social media accounts.
Last year, the @KensingtonRoyal Twitter account for Prince William posted, “Wishing a happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!” with a picture of Meghan. The Clarence House account, representing Prince Charles and Camilla, shared a similar tweet with a different photo of the duchess.
However, this year, there were no birthday messages for Meghan on her 42nd birthday, nor for her daughter Princess Lilibet’s second birthday in June, or for Prince Archie’s fourth birthday in May. The absence of birthday wishes coincides with the ongoing strain in relations between the Sussexes and the royal family, intensified by Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries and Harry’s tell-all memoir, which revealed his troubled relationship with senior members of the family.
As of now, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have not provided any comments on the matter. The lack of public birthday wishes marks a notable departure from previous years and reflects the current strained dynamics between the Sussexes and the royal family.
