Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are used to making headlines. They usually make headlines for standing together in the face of a legal or media onslaught. But recently, the headlines swirling around the California royals have focused on rumors of a serious marital split.

These rumors have been helped along by pics snapped of Meghan out and about without an important piece of jewelry. And now, another sign of trouble: Meghan has been removed from Harry’s famed Invictus Games scheduled for 2023.

The Absence Of A Ring On Meghan’s Finger Sparks Furor

Meghan Markle‘s fashion is always the talk of the town. Whether she’s receiving criticism from old-guard fans of the royal family or admiration from people who think she does an excellent job blending a modern wardrobe with royal expectations, people are always watching what she wears.

That’s why it did not take long for photographers to start obsessively capturing pictures of the actress out and about without an important piece of jewelry: her engagement ring. The ring sports three diamonds which came from the personal collection of Harry’s beloved late mother, Princess Diana. Rumored to be worth around $180,000, the engagement ring is a statement piece that draws attention everywhere she wears it.

But Meghan’s ring has been glaringly absent in recent pictures. In mid-August, Meghan was photographed out in Montecito, California, with her engagement ring nowhere to be found. While the California royal did appear to be wearing her plain wedding band, the missing engagement ring caused rumors to fly that things were over between Meghan and Harry. Rumors of their split have dogged the pair for months now, and things don’t seem to be getting better.

Meghan Originally Scheduled For Invictus Closing Ceremony

Case in point: Meghan Markle has now been removed from Prince Harry’s famed Invictus Games schedule. Every year, Harry hosts the games which honor and raise money for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans. Harry came up with the idea for the games after serving two tours in Afghanistan, and seeing the struggles of servicemembers up close and personal. The first Invictus Games were held in 2014, and it has become a beloved and important annual tradition ever since.

In 2017, Meghan made her first appearance at the Games with Harry. It was their first public outing as a couple. And their appearance together at the Games became a tradition for the duo during their marriage. Meghan’s fashion was always on point during her Games appearances, and she served various roles in her husband’s fundraiser. But now, that all seems to be in the past. An original schedule was circulated which showed that Meghan would host the farewell ceremony. According to that version of the schedule, Meghan would be sharing stories of some of the competitors. The schedule read in brief that Meghan “will take to the stage to host the intimate and moving glimpse into the extraordinary journeys of the Invictus Games competitors.”

However, Meghan‘s name has been struck from the schedule. Instead, she will be replaced by a German television personality, Hadnet Tesfai. A royal expert spoke with Express and explained that Meghan will likely be “staying home” with the couple’s children, Archie and Lilibet. Robert Jobson told the outlet that she will “likely try to stay out of the limelight to avoid another media storm.” Invictus officials say that the original schedule was an error. They added that there was no plan for Meghan to appear at the games. But Jobson doesn’t seem to buy it and called the decision to remove her from the schedule “very odd.”

Rumors of the two taking time apart to consider their marriage have circulated in recent weeks. And the Invictus shakeup seems to confirm that things are not all roses and butterflies between the two. Meghan is currently scheduled to meet up with Harry in Germany. It remains to be seen if the two will vacation together.
