Former Vice President Mike Pence has officially filed to run for President in 2024, joining the growing field of Republican candidates vying for the GOP nomination.
Pence is expected to publicly launch his campaign on June 7, in Des Moines.
Pence will also hold several additional events in Iowa after he makes the formal announcement.
Those events include a CNN Town Hall at 7PM.
Pence’s choice to run is not a surprise – there have been rumblings for months that he would attempt to take down his former running mate, Donald Trump.

Pence is an interesting candidate for the Republicans.
While nowhere near as popular as cult of personality leaders Trump or even Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Pence represents a more conservative values ticket – something traditional Republicans have been yearning for amidst the chaos of the Trump era.
But Pence faces a stiff competition with Trump and DeSantis, and won’t win over MAGA voters.
His best bet is to appeal to Republican hardliners, traditionalists, and Independents – something he has a much better chance of doing than Trump and DeSantis.
And that alone may push donors in his direction – with an eye on the general election and electability.
