Everyone is so proud of Miley Cyrus! The singer has been pretty open about her battle with sobriety, and she just opened up about something many people with substance abuse issues deal with all the time — relapsing.
During a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Cyrus admitted that she “fell off” her sobriety during the pandemic, but that she isn’t mad at herself for it.
“I fell off and I realized that I now am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time,” she said. “One of the things I’ve used is, ‘Don’t get furious, get curious.’ So don’t be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, ‘What happened?'”
What Has Miley Cyrus Previously Said About Her Sobriety?
“It’s been really important for me over the last year living a sober lifestyle, because I really wanted to polish up my craft,” she explained at the time. “I’ve been sober sober for the past six months. At the beginning, it was just about this vocal surgery … But I had been thinking a lot about my mother. My mom was adopted, and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the abandonment feelings and wanting to prove that you’re wanted and valuable. My dad’s parents divorced when he was 3, so my dad raised himself. I did a lot of family history, which has a lot of addiction and mental health challenges. So just going through that and asking, ‘Why am I the way that I am?’ By understanding the past, we understand the present and the future much more clearly. I think therapy is great. I don’t have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go passed that level [of being tipsy].”
The “Wrecking Ball” songstress continued also spoke out about the stigma behind sobriety.
“It’s really hard because especially being young, there’s that stigma of ‘you’re no fun,'” she added. “It’s like, ‘Honey, you can call me a lot of things, but I know that I’m fun.’ The thing that I love about it is waking up 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. I don’t want to wake up feeling groggy. I want to wake up feeling ready.”
In 2017, She Spoke Out About Quitting Smoking
It turns out, this isn’t the first time she spoke out about it. Throughout her time in the spotlight, Cyrus has not been shy about her love for marijuana, but in 2017, she revealed that she had quit smoking.
“I stopped smoking because to sit here and talk about what I’m doing I wanted to be really clear. Because I’m actually the most passionate about what I’m doing with this record than I’ve ever been,” the former Disney star said while promoting her 2017 album Younger Now during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “I’ve always been very stoned on your shows. I don’t know if you know this, everybody. ‘Member the last time I was here? I was dressed as a bunny rabbit and then like a cat. There’s a reason for that: I was high.”
What Has Miley Cyrus Been Up To Recently?
After months of waiting, Cyrus dropped her new album, Plastic Hearts, last month, and she did not hold back on it! Yep, the actress seemingly threw a ton of shade towards her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth, in the lyrics, with the most-talked about song being “WTF Do I Know.”
“I’m completely naked but I’m making it fashion / Maybe gettin’ married just to cause a distraction / Here to tell you somethin’ that you don’t know,” the lyrics to the new track read. “Am I wrong that I moved on and I / And I don’t even miss you / Thought that it’d be you until I die / But I let go / What the f**k do I know? I’m alone.”
As fans know, the two stars met and fell for each other on set of The Last Song back in 2009. They were on and off for nearly a decade before tying the knot in December 2018. They were total couple goals — constantly gushing over each other in interviews, attending red carpet events side by side, sharing the cutest, PDA-filled pics online and supporting each other’s work. Which is why fans were seriously shook when news hit the web in August 2019 that they had split. Then, just a few months after Cyrus and Hemsworth got a divorce, she moved on with Cody Simpson. She and the Australian singer dated for almost a year before they too ended their relationship.
She’s Ready To Bring ‘Hannah Montana’ Back
It’s safe to say that Hannah Montana was a huge part of a lot of our childhoods. The Disney Channel show aired from March 2006 to January 2011, and it quickly became one of the most beloved shows of all time. That’s why ever since it came to an end, fans have been hoping and praying that the network will one day bring it back. Well guys, you might want to brace yourselves because according to Cyrus, we may actually be getting a reboot!
“Y’know when something — like, a good vintage t-shirt — like, enough time has to go by until it’s good again. It goes through a period where it’s bad because it’s old, but then it’s so old that it’s good again?” she said during a recent interview with Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp. “Hannah is like a fine wine. We’ve got to wait until she’s ready.”
This is the best news ever!
