Ever since Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde confirmed that they were dating, fans have been practically dying for an inside look at their relationship. Well guys, you might want to brace yourselves, because the actress has finally spilled some details on what her life with the former One Direction member is really like, and it could not be cuter.
While speaking to Vogue during a recent interview, the Booksmart star explained that she’s been splitting her time between Los Angeles (where her kids live) and London (where Styles lives). And according to Wilde, she’s in a “really good place” at the moment.
“What this past year has taught me is the most valuable thing we have in life is time and the freedom with which to spend it the way you want to and with the people you want to. I think that it really affects your health. The way that you view your time affects your health and choosing to spend time focusing on your family, on people you love, on your health and exercise,” she said. “I probably started exercising more this year than I had in a while, and it’s because I feel better than I ever have. I think sometimes, you know, it’s the chicken or the egg. Will exercise make you happier? Do you have to be happy to work out? I don’t know, but I am in a really good place in my life. And that translated to taking care of myself better than ever. And I’m spending my time in a way that allows me to have a generally healthier, happier lifestyle.”
What Else Did Olivia Wilde Reveal About Their Relationship?
When the outlet asked her what things make her happiest, the brunette beauty revealed, “Hiking, swimming, reading, meditating, taking baths, being quiet [and] the opportunity to be quiet. I do consider exercise to be a me-time ritual too. It’s impossible to get all of those things in a day, let alone a week. But I aim to incorporate them into my day.”
“I also think ridding yourself of social media. I know it’s hard when you work in an industry that relies heavily on it. But on a personal level, I really have found that to be something that has brought a lot of peace into my life,” she continued. “The clinical studies that have gone into the way Instagram makes our lives worse, and obviously Twitter being its own hellscape. But I think that mental health is something we have to focus more on, especially coming out of this wild year. So as we talk about beauty, self-care tools, and trying to find peace, we have to think about what we’re ingesting through our skin, through our gut, and through our eyes. What we’re reading, what we’re listening to, it makes a huge difference.”
As fans know, Styles and Wilde first went public with their relationship back in January 2021, when they attended the singer’s manager, Jeff Azoff‘s wedding together and were photographed walking hand-in-hand. And since then, they’ve been total couple goals.
“I think we have to stop having everything at our fingertips,” Wilde concluded. “I think getting rid of apps that promote unhealthy behavior in yourself is important. We have control over these things. Recognize what you have control over and understand that everything you bring into your life is a choice. We have choices in the way we spend our money, our votes, and the ways that we fill our lives with media is a choice in how we want to feel. Rituals that allow you to regain some sense of balance and connection to your inner voice — it really has a lot to do with our health.”
When Did They Start Dating?
Unfortunately, it’s still unclear when the “Sign of the Times” crooner and the 37-year-old officially started dating, but according to Entertainment Tonight, they grew super close during their time on set of their upcoming movie Don’t Worry Darling (which Styles is starring in and Wilde is directing), and romantic feelings started to develop.
“Olivia and Harry are together for long days on set and have gotten to know each other really well, so it’s all very organic,” a source said. “[Wilde] wouldn’t let a romantic relationship get in the way of a professional one, so anything they’re doing is being done thoughtfully. So it’s not like she’s rushing into something.”
And according to Us Weekly, Styles and Wilde were “very careful” to keep their relationship private at first.
“Olivia and Harry were able to keep their relationship under wraps for a bit before it became public knowledge,” an insider explained. “They were very careful about it and even sleuthy at times, although the small group of people who were on set with them every day eventually figured it out.”
The Sun added that their 10-year age gap definitely wasn’t a problem for the two stars.
“They clicked immediately — they’re both very artistic, passionate people and it was one of those things where straight away everyone could see they had a spark,” a source said. “Clearly they’re enjoying themselves and the age gap really isn’t a thing. Harry has obviously famously had a thing for older women but he’s just extremely mature himself, you’d never think there was a decade between them.”
In July 2021, the couple jetted off to Italy together (where they were seen packing on the PDA non-stop), and most recently, Wilde accompanied Styles on his Love on Tour. She’s been spotted dancing in the audience at numerous shows, and we love a supportive girlfriend!
What Have They Previously Said About Each Other?
After Styles landed his role in Don’t Worry Darling, Wilde couldn’t stop gushing over him to Vogue Magazine.
“I did a little victory dance when we heard that we officially had Harry in the film, because we knew that he has a real appreciation for fashion and style,” she explained. “This movie is incredibly stylistic. It’s very heightened and opulent, and I’m really grateful that he is so enthusiastic about that element of the process — some actors just don’t care. To me, he’s very modern, and I hope that this brand of confidence as a male that Harry has — truly devoid of any traces of toxic masculinity — is indicative of his generation and therefore the future of the world. I think he is in many ways championing that, spearheading that. It’s pretty powerful and kind of extraordinary to see someone in his position redefining what it can mean to be a man with confidence.”
Plus, after the movie wrapped filming in February 2021, she took to Instagram to praise the musician. She wrote, “Little known fact: most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films. The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power (i.e financial value) to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories. No joke, it is harrrrrd to find actors who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight. Enter: @harrystyles, our ‘Jack.’ Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant @florencepugh to hold center stage as our ‘Alice,’ but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity. He didn’t have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace, and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards.”
