UFC Fight Night between Arman Tsarukyan and Mateusz Gamrot is just about 24 hours away, and the sports world is buzzing. Tsarukyan, a young Armenian-Russian fighter who has taken UFC by storm, is favored to win the bout - but his winning strategy comes from more than just good stats.

Tsarukyan has the heart of a fighter and ambition that's driving him quickly to the top. Here's why Tsarukyan isn't just the favorite this weekend, he's the one to watch.

Tsaruykan Picked to Win

For months now, Tsarukyan has been in Las Vegas training. For him, it's less about winning one fight and more about showing the world that a young fighter can make a name for themselves - and play to win.

Tsarukyan told UFC.com, "I want to show everybody that the young generation is coming and that a young guy like me can beat everybody in this division ... They’ve got to watch my fight to understand that I’m the best in this division and I’m the youngest contender for this title. I want to get this title as soon as possible.”

The Fight Night favorite added, "It feels special. In my last fights, I didn’t have a lot of interviews like I do now. Now everyone is focused on me, and I like this ... People started talking about me after my debut and now I have a good win streak and I beat everybody after [my debut]. I deserve it to be in the main event.”

The 156-lb contender is hot off several big wins, and playbooks have him as the favorite because he's on an upward trajectory.

Finding an opponent to take him on this weekend was a challenge; according to Tsarukyan, it's because everyone is afraid to fight him - and with good reason. It's not uncommon for UFC fighters to be better at some things and worse at others, but Tsarukyan is the kind of athlete who's good at it all, and can pivot from skill and move to the next in an eyeblink.

That's not to say Gamrot isn't an impressive opponent - but Tsarukyan has the drive. Tsaruykan goes into the event with an 18-2-0 record, vs Gamrot's 20-1-0.

A Winning Strategy

Despite having wins against Alvarez, Giagos, Frevola, Ramos and Aubin-Mercier under his belt, what makes Tsarukyan the favorite is his undivided focus on clinching the title.

Earlier this year, Tsarukyan spoke with The Schmo, as MMA Fighter reports, and had this to say about people turning down bouts in his quest for an opponent; "I don’t understand how fighters wanna be like, champion, like (Gregor) Gillespie or somebody else, if they just stay in the (same) rank and they don’t do nothing. Just, ‘Oh, I wanna fight once a year,’ How? If you wanna be champion, you gotta fight like, three, four times in a year. And they stop my career too. I wanna grow up very fast, I’m ready now. But it’s difficult to get fight."

Tsarukyan refers to Gamrot as a worthy opponent, who shares a lot in common with both his fighting record and style, but there's no doubt in his mind how it needs to end, per UFC.com, "'This fight is very important for me because I want to win this fight, I want to knock him out and I want to get my $50K then leave,' Tsarukyan said. 'When I knock him out, everybody will have to talk about me. They have to put me in the Top 5 and they have to give me a tough opponent because I don’t want to wait a [long time] to get the title.'”

UFC Fight Night returns to the Apex Las Vegas tomorrow, and fans will be able to see these two competitors square off.

There's no such thing as safe money in UFC betting - but good money's on the guy with the instinct, drive, and heart to win - and that's Tsarukyan.
