Donald Trump has been beset from every direction in the past few weeks. Even though the January 6 hearings are on hiatus, their impact continues to create ripples that are interfering with the former President's momentum ahead of 2024. And yesterday, news broke that former Vice President Mike Pence would consider testifying before the House's J6 committee - a potential bombshell testimony that could change the entire landscape of the hearings.

But today, news went from bad to worse as InfoWars founder and controversial host Alex Jones officially jumped off the Trump Train. He's got his eyes on another candidate for 2024: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Alex Jones Backing DeSantis, Will No Longer Support Trump

Alex Jones will no longer "pigheadedly" support Trump.

Jones has been one of Trump's most outspoken supporters since 2015, but they butted heads in 2020 and 2021 over Trump's support for accelerated COVID vaccine programs and increased access for the population.

For the most part, he's been one of the loudest and most unshakeable fans of the 45th President, but that love affair has come to an end. Jones fought tooth and nail to try to get Trump re-elected, he said on his controversial podcast this week, because the idea of Biden being elected was a "nightmare scenario."

Business Insider reports, "'That said, I am supporting DeSantis. DeSantis has just gone from being awesome to being unbelievably good,' said Jones. The far-right host added that he could see 'real sincerity' in DeSantis' eyes when watching footage of the lawmaker.

'We have someone who is better than Trump. Way better than Trump,' Jones said, describing DeSantis as the person Trump 'should be like.'"

Jones didn't specifically mention the January 6 committee or the Mar-a-Lago raid by the FBI, but the timing is no coincidence. Jones' withdrawal of support for Trump follows a pattern being played out across Conservative spheres everywhere. "Trump has too much baggage, DeSantis is all the good things about him without the drama," is the message playing out in Republican arenas across the country. Fox News' "Fox and Friends," Podcast host Joe Rogan and Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk, two other high-profile Republicans, are also throwing their support behind DeSantis, leaving the former President scrambling for allies and donors.

Alex Jones is in His Own Hot Water After Being Ordered to Pay Damages to Sandy Hook Families

Of course, all of this coming from Jones right now provides a bizarre juxtaposition that pretends the podcast host isn't himself in a world of legal trouble.

Jones was recently court ordered to pay damages to families of Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims.

Ever since the 2012 mass shooting which left 20 children dead and 6 educators, Jones has been peddling conspiracy theories claiming that the massacre either never happened or was set up to provide a path forward for liberals to take guns away from conservatives, in a nutshell.

Of course those restrictive gun laws have never materialized, but Jones has persisted in dragging the surviving family members of Sandy Hook victims through a personal hell as Jones' supporters have issued death threats and mocked their grief.

A court found Jones liable for around $50M in damages, but it has not deterred him from continuing to show up to his podcast and cast aspersions on the grief-torn survivors of Sandy Hook.

Jones saying someone else has too much baggage, given all that, really says something about both Jones' priorities - and the former President's prospects ahead of 2024.
