Yesterday, rumors began swirling that an arrest was pending soon for former President Donald Trump.

The former POTUS (FPOTUS) was spotted disembarking from a plane in Washington DC, wearing a polo shirt and golf shoes. Everyone was speculating about why the FPOTUS would land in Washington for only the second time since he left in January 2021, and in unexpected attire. We now know that he was headed to his golf course. But the "why" may be the most interesting part.

Donald Trump Spotted at Golf Course 'Not Golfing' - Why Does That Matter?

Why does it matter that Donald Trump was spotted in golf gear while headed to a golf course?

Because, as it turns out, he did no golfing. Video was taken of the former President and many of his advisors - including former White House lawyer Ty Cobb - moving around the course and in intense conversation. Cobb recently said on television that he believes the chances of Trump being indicted are, "very high."

But despite the properly-attired gathering, no one was golfing.

Instead of dispelling rumor, since he actually did have a reason to don the golf gear after all and wasn't just snatched from somewhere mid-game to answer to an FBI summons as many speculated, it heated things up.

There are two reasons someone like Trump would want to speak with advisors on a golf course, according to experts.

One possibility: he's planning on selling. Then again, that wouldn't require golf gear and Trump would more than likely send a business manager to handle the transaction.

The other and more intriguing possibility: he wanted to have a discussion away from prying ears. As one imagines, there's very little technology on a golf course. Nowhere to easily plant a mic because you can't be sure where people will stop and chat. And Trump and his cohorts, moving randomly between holes and leaving their carts far behind to chat, seemed to be extra cautious about getting space between themselves and technology.

Was it all a legal pow-wow about Trump's legal jeopardy? Perhaps. For now, it's all speculation - but it does the arrest rumors no favors in putting them to rest.

January 6 Committee Meeting Soon - Issues a Spate of Subpoenas to Trump Stalwarts

All of this comes on the heels of nearly 40 subpoenas issued by the January 6 House panel investigating the riots at the Capitol.

Top Trump aides and allies received subpoenas last week in a lightning round of "answer to the law," including phones seized by in-house counsel Boris Epshteyn and campaign strategist Mike Roman.

The New York Times reports, "One of the recipients, people familiar with the case said, was Dan Scavino, Mr. Trump’s former social media director who rose from working at a Trump-owned golf course to become one of his most loyal West Wing aides, and has remained an adviser since Mr. Trump left office. Stanley Woodward, one of Mr. Scavino’s lawyers, declined to comment.

Another was Bernard B. Kerik, a former New York City police commissioner. Mr. Kerik, who promoted claims of voter fraud alongside his friend Rudolph W. Giuliani, was issued a subpoena by prosecutors with the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, his lawyer, Timothy Parlatore, said on Monday. Mr. Parlatore said his client had initially offered to grant an interview voluntarily."

For the former President, the broadening in scope of the January 6 probe is a concerning sign. After all, they were supposed to be done in June. Although it was already announced that they would be reconvening in September, the ramping up is a worrying sign for Trump loyalists.
