Fans were avidly keeping eyes on the stars of Don’t Worry Darling during the premiere at the Venice Film Festival. With Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine and Florence Pugh, it was almost impossible to keep eyes off of them the entire weekend.
There was a giant question as to if Pugh would be attending the screening and premiere as she has barely had encounters with interviewers or press for the upcoming movie. Pugh was not too thrilled about being “reduced to (her) sex scenes,” as another source had pointed out. When she surprised all and arrived, she came in with an Aperol Spritz in her hand and paid very little attention to being confronted by press during her stay there.
Awkward Moments as Don't Worry Darling Premieres
Co-star Wilde had stated, “Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she’s able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune. I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her, to [Dune director] Denis Villeneuve for helping us. And we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say enough how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing in the film,” she added.
On top of this all and according to another source, Wilde and Pugh have had multiple tiffs and disagreements not only professionally, but personally as well. That is apparently the main reason why Pugh will not do any press or interviews for the film.
It was also stated that with the film making headlines for a little over two years throughout the process was when Styles replaced actor Shia LaBeouf for the main role of Jack. Co-stars and co-workers for the movie had felt that it may not have been the best setting for LaBeouf to be in the movie and on the set, as they all wanted things to run smoothly. He claims he quit; others say he was let go.
During the premiere, it was noticed that Styles seemed to have been avoiding Wilde, who is also known as his girlfriend and during the viewing, a viral video hit the internet that makes it seem as if Styles had spit on Pine.
Spit Facts, Harry - Is it True?
A lot of fans, that have been following the process of creating this movie, feel as if there has been a lot of drama with this cast specifically and with all of this, and they do not understand why. It is being said both that he did spit and that he didn’t spit on the actor. Most think it is time and necessary for Styles to make a statement based on the viral video and those allegations.
As stated earlier, Pugh looked careless walking with her drink in her hand down the red carpet, trying to dodge all interviews.
Wilde and Styles also had made it a point to not go crazy in public by trying to be next to each other at all times while being on the red carpet and doing interviews. All of the actors seemed to be doing their own thing and while Styles did interviews as much as he was asked to, Pine didn’t seem to want to be asked any questions of any sort and appeared zoned out.
Pine’s reaction to this so-called spitting on ended with a light laugh and then going on with his own business for the rest of the screening. Pugh and Wilde were said to have their beef, but then later did in fact acknowledge one another’s existence towards the end.
Whether or not he spit on Pine, Styles was extra-friendly with comedian Nick Kroll, planting a kiss on him during the premiere.
All in all it was one of the most bizarre and awkward premieres in recent memory, with cast members hinting at drama fans can only guess at. And as for that famous spit, or not spit? You'd have to ask Harry.
