August is coming in hot with way more than usual when it comes to movies this weekend. Frankly, there are so many releases in the coming week that we just can’t feature them all. Not cause we don’t want to. We can’t keep up with all the new and fun content on the way.
So instead we are going to focus our attention on a handful of movies to put on your radar for the weekend. These are the best of the best and are absolutely worth the $10 dollar bottle of water at the concession stand. In a couple of cases, you don’t even have to leave the house.
Ladies and gents, sit back, relax and take a look at what has caught the attention of our peepers this last couple of weeks.
Quick note, there are no major spoilers here.
For action buffs we are going to kick it off with the finest flock of fellas on one of the fastest moving modes of transportation - Bullet Train.
Brad Pitt is Ladybug in this super charged action caper that takes place on a bullet train. Ladybug and his sticky fingers have one job -steal a suitcase. Easy peasy for this recent convert of the zen lifestyle. No guns mean no chance of anyone getting hurt and that suits Ladybug just fine. But, what he does not know is that there are multiple people onboard with similar interests - a lot of them.
Bullet Train also stars: Bad Bunny as The Wolf, Joey King as Prince and the best brother duo since Brennan Huff And Dale Doback of Step Brothers with Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Tangerine and Brian Tyree Henry as Lemon.
When we say that the entire film takes place on a train, we aren’t kidding. What the production saved on sets they used on stuntmen and it was a wise choice. Director David Leitch presents one of the most perfectly choreographed action flicks in some time. As well he should, Leitch is a former stunt man in Hollywood. In fact, he used to be the stuntman for one Mr. Brad Pitt.
While the story is a bit hard to follow at times we aren’t that concerned. The cast of characters makes this one of the funnest times at the cineplex this weekend. The amount of chemistry that exists between Pitt and everyone one of his interactions would make Walter White green with envy.
There are some major hit makers also boarding the Bullet Train that we don't want to ruin. But suffice it to say, they are comedic magic.
Wicked good chemistry from Brad Pitt and cast in Bullet Train. The movie is ripe for a franchise and might be the most comedic fun you'll have at the movies this weekend!

One Funny Filipino
Jo Koy is hella busy. Not only is he on the road with his latest ”Funny is Funny” standup tour, but his first movie is hitting theaters this weekend.
Easter Sunday is the story of Joe Valencia and his Filipino family. Joe is an actor in LA who drives with his son to see his mom and the rest of his family for Easter Sunday. The movie is based on Koy’s own life and comedy.
Fans of his Netflix special Coming in Hot will see much of the same content from that special in Easter Sunday. The standup special got the attention of legendary director Steven Spielberg. In fact, it was Spielberg who reached out to Koy after seeing the special and suggested the movie.
Though Easter Sunday is predictable and has moments that oozes cheese, it is hella funny, heartwarming and needed. I mean, it must be if Spielberg wanted it right?
Easter Sunday is cheesy but charming. Fellow comedian Tiffany Haddish as always delivers a memorable and legit funny role as the former high school girlfriend.

Speaking of legendary directors lets dive right into Ron Howard’s latest film Thirteen Lives.
Very few directors celebrate the triumph of the human spirit like Ron Howard. The director behind Apollo 13 has grounded himself for the real life story of a young soccer team who become trapped in a cave in Thailand. The story made headlines in the summer of 2018 when the boys and their coach became trapped by a sudden and unexpected deluge of rain. The group of boys spent 18 days trapped while over 10,000 people from all over the world worked tirelessly to save them. Remarkably all 12 boys and their coach survived.
The movie stars Viggo Mortensen, Collin Farrell and Joel Edgerton as the three rescue divers who come up with the controversial plan to save the boys.
Do not skip out on this movie streaming on Prime Video. It is one of our favorites this year.
This gripping and emotional movie dives into the deep end of your emotions in a way that only Ron Howard can. Based on a true story, Thirteen Lives will make your heart skip several beats while also filling it with joy. Yes, you may know the ending but do not pass on this film.
