49-year-old Dawn Renee Wynn was awaiting a murder trial over the death of her 51-year-old husband, Harold Lee Wynn.

Dawn was accused of shooting her husband as he slept and was out on bond ahead of the trial. Now, she has vanished - leaving only a note behind.

People reports, "According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Joplin Globe, Wynn claimed that she was sleeping next to her husband when she was awoken by the sound of a gunshot, as well as something 'brushing' her face. She allegedly called 911 and reported the shooting."

But police think it was Dawn herself who killed her husband. Upon searching the scene, police found a .40 caliber pistol between the pillows on the bed and arrested Dawn the same day.

But ahead of the murder trial, Dawn left a note and ran for it.

Police have not revealed the contents of that note but warn the public that she is to be considered potentially armed and dangerous, but a police department's post suggests that she is of greatest danger to herself and not others.

People adds, "McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson told KOAM that Wynn left a note before vanishing.

Now, authorities are asking for the public's assistance in finding Wynn. 'Please be on the lookout for Dawn Wynn,' the McDonald County Sheriff's press release says.

'She should be considered dangerous and could be armed,' the statement continues.

Anyone with information regarding Wynn's whereabouts is urged to call the McDonald County Sheriff's Office at 417-223-4318."

Users on a Benton County Sheriff's Office Facebook post regarding Dawn's missing status have blasted the department, suggesting that they're miscategorizing her to the public as it makes no mention of her trial for murder. One user wrote, "This person was previously released on bond and has been charged with and is facing trial for violently murdering her husband. She should be considered armed and dangerous.

This misrepresentation by BCSO is grossly irresponsible, and unnecessarily puts people at risk that think they might just be trying to help an endangered missing person."

The charges against Dawn are in McDonald County.
