The former butler to King Charles, Grant Harrold, has disclosed that Prince Harry has distanced himself from the longtime friends he once shared with his estranged brother, Prince William.
Harrold, who served the monarch during Prince Charles’ tenure as Prince of Wales for seven years, revealed that Harry’s communication with some of his friends has become virtually nonexistent since the renegade royal relinquished his senior duties and relocated to Montecito, California with his family.
“I know quite a few of Harry’s friends, who don’t hear from him at all now,” claimed Harrold. He emphasized that a number of these friends hadn’t received any calls or texts from the Duke of Sussex after his departure from the UK for a fresh start.
One notable absence was at the wedding of Jack Mann, a friend with whom Harry had shared a close bond. Despite serving as part of the wedding party at Mann’s own nuptials, Prince Harry was conspicuously absent from Mann’s wedding in July.
Prince Harry’s once-strong relationship with his estranged brother, Prince William, has also been significantly strained. Harrold lamented the shift in their relationship, stating, “They were both very sociable boys… And that’s what’s so sad about it now, how they’ve gone from best of friends to non-existent really. They have become so distant.”
Harrold recalled a time when Prince Harry and Prince William were known for their camaraderie, practical jokes, and shared friendships. The former staffer remarked on the joviality they shared, even in public settings like pubs, as a testimony to their strong bond during those years.
Despite recent speculations of a potential reconciliation in the wake of Prince Harry’s Netflix series and upcoming memoir, the interview with Harrold suggests that the estrangement between Prince Harry and his once-intimate circle, as well as his brother Prince William, remains a substantial aspect of their current dynamic.
