Prince William and Kate Middleton recently scandalized fans after revealing their favorite NSFW emojis. William and Kate are often seen as the more serious of the young royal couples, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle considered more playful and rebellious. But William brought out his rambunctious side in a recent interview with BBC’s Radio 1. Kate joined in a little with the playful banter, making a sarcastic quip about the emoji she relates with the most.

William And Kate Split From Meghan And Harry

Prince William and Kate Middleton are always busy fulfilling their royal duties. Duties which likely increased in frequency after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from the royal hustle in 2020. Since then, things between the royal brothers has expanded from tense to outright cold. And the sisters-in-law aren’t in a better place with one another.

Tensions between the four reached an all-time high after Harry’s memoir, Spare, hit shelves. In the book, he called William his “beloved brother and arch nemesis.” While it may seem like a playful comment, dark undertones throughout the book suggest some truth to the statement. Harry also wrote about verbal and physical altercations with his brother. And how when William named Harry his best man in his wedding, it wasn’t a serious appointment. Harry said in the book, “Willy didn’t want me giving a best man’s speech.”

Since leaving royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have thrown shade at the London royals. And painted themselves as the victim of a grueling and emotionless Institution that uses the royal family at all times to paint the perfect public relations picture. William and Kate are reportedly “done” with their Montecito counterparts. As a result, it would take a significant event to bring the brothers back together these days. Even more significant than the death of their beloved grandmother or the coronation of their father as king. It’s hard to imagine an event big enough to mend those fences.

Prince William And Kate Share Favorite NSFW Emojis

But this week, Prince William and Kate Middleton weren’t thinking of the feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They weren’t focused on drama, or world affairs, or anything of significant substance. In fact, they were getting a little rowdy while talking about emojis, of all things.

In an interview with Radio 1, William and Kate were asked about their favorite emojis. And their answers may surprise you. William joked, “Is this a clean thing or is this a family one? I’ve been told not to say the aubergine so I’ve got to pick something else.” The future King of England quipped, “It would have been the aubergine but I’m saying now — because I’ve got to be all grown up — it’s the one where the eyes go up and down and the mouth’s out. What’s that one? The slightly crazy one.”

Radio 1 host Jordan North laughed, “He said the aubergine emoji, this is brilliant!” And co-host Vick Hope joked, “He knows. He’s got a dirty mind.”

Kate’s response was a little less NSFW, but it alluded to her strained state of mind. Kate sarcastically joked, “Mine’s probably going to be the heart with then the crying emoji. The hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong.” Something she seems to be familiar with in recent days.

All in all, the duo’s appearance for World Mental Health Day did wonders for their image. The two London royals are often seen as aloof and unapproachable. But they’ve been rehabbing their image in recent years, connecting more with the people. Now that Harry can no longer be the “buddy prince” that wins the hearts of the British people, William has to learn to fit that role. And the emoji interview was a great start to what could be an interesting evolution for the future King.
