Prince William is “committed” to finding the “missing” engagement ring of Meghan Markle, according to one expert. The ring’s jewels once belonged to the late Princess Diana, the mother of William and Markle’s husband, Prince Harry. With rumors swirling recently that Markle’s ring is missing in action, a jewelry expert feels strongly about William’s desire to find it. But there could be a simple explanation for the ring’s sudden lack of public face time.

Meghan’s Engagement Ring Sparks Rumors

Last month, Meghan Markle‘s hands sparked rumors of divorce from Prince Harry. Or rather, what wasn’t on her hand. When Harry proposed to Meghan in November 2017, he offered her a ring. But it wasn’t just any ring. The $180,000 features diamonds that come from the collection of Harry and William’s late mother, Diana.

For years, Meghan wore it everywhere she went. The glittering testament to the duo’s love also seemed like a nod of approval from Diana. And fans loved to spot it in photographs of the actress. But over the end of the summer in 2023, Meghan abruptly stopped wearing the ring. Where it was always there before, suddenly there was a void.

Understandably, the first scenario that jumped to people’s minds was an impending divorce between Meghan and Harry. While there are other reasons that led people to that theory, so far it seems unfounded. What isn’t unfounded, however, is the note that Meghan’s ring is still missing from public appearances. And one jewelry expert believes he knows why.

The expert feels that Prince William is doggedly trying to find Meghan Markle‘s ring, for one particular reason. Jewelry expert Stefano Pietrini from Watches and Crystals spoke with GBN about the whole affair.

Pietrini says, “Naturally divorce rumors have arisen regarding the removal of Meghan Markle’s engagement ring, however, it has been revealed that this removal has been completely unrelated to her relationship with the Duke of Sussex.”

The real reason, he explains, is simple; “Unfortunately, there have been issues with the setting of the ring which has resulted in the stones becoming loose. As two of the stones are part of Princess Diana’s collection there is even more urgency when it comes to protecting the ring. Any issues that risk the safety of these stones are immediately dealt with to prevent their loss and damage, which explains the recent absence of Meghan’s ring.”

And William is on the hunt for his sister-in-law’s missing ring, Pietrini adds. “Prince William’s primary concern for the location of Meghan’s engagement ring has solely to do with the sentimental attachment of the late Princess Diana’s diamonds.” He continued, “It is no surprise that William is committed to preserving the legacy of his mother, her jewelry being a large part of that.”
