Between the show-stopping performances and the star-studded guest list, the MTV Video Music Awards was definitely a night to remember! The awards show took place on Sunday, September 12 at the Barclays Center in New York City, and so many of our favorite stars showed up. Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello and tons more graced the red carpet, and boy, did they look fierce! As for the winners, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and BTS were among some of the names that took home awards this year, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

It’s only natural that when so many big artists are in a room together, some drama may go down, and last night was full of it. In case you missed it, we went ahead and recapped the wildest and most dramatic moments from the event, including a fight between Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly, Justin Bieber having an anxiety attack mid-show and Olivia Rodrigo tripping on her way to the red carpet. Conor McGregor And Machine Gun Kelly Fought On The Red Carpet

Things got a little heated between Machine Gun Kelly and McGregor while they were both walking the red carpet. It’s still unclear what originally caused the altercation, but videos have surfaced that show the UFC champion trying to pour his drink on the rapper and attempting to lunge at him. Thankfully, security quickly stepped in and pulled them apart before they were able to hit each other, but it was definitely a close call.

Justin Bieber Appeared To Have An Anxiety Attack

Many fans were left concerned for Bieber after he appeared to be anxious and uncomfortable in the audience of the show. He could be seen trying to catch his breath, fidgeting and being comforted by his wife, Hailey Baldwin. Previously, the “Love Yourself” crooner has been pretty open about the fact that he suffers from anxiety, and has also been open about not loving award shows.

“Don’t stop fighting the battle has already won. Fight for what you love and who you love don’t let fear and anxiety win,” he wrote on Instagram in 2019. “I haven’t believed the truth about myself I haven’t believed I am loved I haven’t believed I am forgiven it’s a hard thing for me to wrap my head around. I hang my head in shame and I wallow in sadness about the people who have betrayed me.”

Olivia Rodrgio Nearly Face Planted Before The Show

While leaving to head to the event, Rodrigo tripped and fell down the stairs of her hotel! An onlooker who witnessed the whole thing exclusively told us, “She stopped to sign a few autographs on her way out of the hotel and suddenly she was on the ground. She handled it like a pro though — kept a smile on her face the whole time. She was mainly concerned about messing up her dress but seemed to shake it off quickly when she realized it was fine.”

Billie Eilish Seemed To Shade Jennifer Lopez

While Jennifer Lopez hit the stage to sing, cameras panned across the audience. And when they showed Eilish’s reaction, she appeared to be completely unamused by the performance! As everyone else clapped, she just sort of just… twiddled her fingers and starred into space. Awkward!

Other performers throughout the night included Rodrigo, Bieber and The Kid Laroi, Alicia Keys and Swae, Anitta, Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star, Chlöe, Cabello, Doja Cat, Sheeran, Foo Fighters, Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, Kacey Musgraves, Kim Petras, Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker, Normani, Ozuna, Polo G, Swedish House Mafia, Tainy and Mendes, SAINt JHN, Twenty One Pilots and Latto.

Doja Cat Wore A Chair On Her Head

Doja Cat — who hosted the show — wore four different outfits throughout the night, and fans cannot stop talking about them! One even included an actual chair on top of her head, and another made her look like a worm.

“I never thought I’d be dressed as a worm while accepting an award,” she joked at one point during the show.

LOL. And those weren’t the only outfits that got some attention. Lil Nas X also made headlines with his look — which was a lavender off-the-shoulder suit complete with a long train. Musgraves also had all eyes on her with a giant, feathered, purple head piece, while Petras had everyone shook when she wore a black ski mask over her face!

There Was Some Major PDA On The Red Carpet

Many of our favorite couples walked the red carpet together, and it was pretty epic to see them packing on the PDA. Kourtney Kardashian and her beau, Barker, for example, shared in a big ol’ smooch while on the carpet, and it was adorable. Plus, despite the drama with McGregor, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly were cuter than words while on the red carpet. Oh, and did we mention that Avril Lavigne and her boyfriend Mod Sun made their red carpet debut during the event?! So sweet.
