After years of planning, and months of hype, Las Vegas finally saw Resorts World throw open its gleaming doors. The first new resort on the Strip since 2010, Resorts World Las Vegas has been a monumental undertaking, and Genting, the Malaysian gaming and hospitality company behind it made huge promises about its Las Vegas debut that seemed impossible to make a reality. And yet, somehow, as the doors opened last night, it became apparent: They did everything they promised, plus more. The resort is breathtaking, modern, packed with conveniences and amenities, and a veritable playground for grownups.

Almost all of Hollywood and Vegas’ who’s who A-listers showed up to celebrate the grand opening, and the party was one for the ages. CELEB takes a look inside the beginning opening day.

Against the backdrop of the setting Vegas sun, visitors gathered in anticipation as the hours ticked by and the moment inched closer. Along the side of the building, “WELCOME TO RESORTS WORLD LAS VEGAS” flashed across the monumental crimson towers. First, invitees, whom were given the directive to a pop of red in the evening’s attire, congregated in the three hotel lobbies—Hilton, Conrad and Crockfords as executives from Genting and various partners christened the property with speeches and a ceremonial Lion Dance. Then, the party opened and thousands poured into the casino floor to sample the resort’s restaurants and bars.

Out by the pool, guests were teased that there would be a secret performance by an A-lister at 9 p.m. The mystery was revealed when Resorts World Zouk Group headliner DJ Tiesto hit the stage. He is one of the resort’s not-so-secret weapons in winning the Las Vegas entertainment battle. All the action was displayed on the giant screens that flank the building and massive crowds gathered on Las Vegas Boulevard to watch. There was also a countdown of the hours, minutes, and seconds to opening, which was heralded by an awe-inspiring display of fireworks. At 11 p.m., the doors flew open wide and people got their first real look into the wonder that is RWLV.

Celebrities Came to Play

Celebrities were peppered throughout the opening party, including Paris and Nicky Hilton and parents Kathy and Rick, who came to celebrate their family name’s newest Las Vegas venture. Paris was dressed in a statement piece; metallic blue leather with chain accents and a pair of blue sunglasses to dim the glare of the Resorts World razzle-dazzle. TMZ shares, “The socialite made it known Thursday night during her DJ set for the grand opening of the newest casino on the Vegas Strip … Resorts World Las Vegas. Paris — who donned an outfit eerily similar to Britney’s 2003 wardrobe for the ‘Toxic’ music video — said 6 little words that had the whole place going berserk … ‘We love you, Britney. Free Britney.’”

Jeff Beacher was at the opening night party, along with Usher and Steve Aoki. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak made an appearance too, beaming over the Strip’s newest construction marvel. And of course, the Resorts World team was there to enjoy their big moment. Kendall and Kris Jenner were also there in show-stopping looks promoting Kendall’s new 818 Tequila.

Business Insider shares, “‘This is a very proud moment for Genting and our Resorts World Las Vegas family as we are honored to officially open our doors,’ said Scott Sibella, president of Resorts World Las Vegas. ‘This spectacular resort was designed to usher in a new era of hospitality in Las Vegas with unsurpassed dining and entertainment, an array of luxury hotel accommodations, and new-age technology. We are excited to finally be able to present this resort to the world and officially welcome guests to experience our exceptional amenities firsthand. We are grateful for all of the support we received during our opening and truly hope our community and visitors enjoy all of the hard work that went into creating this incredible property.’”

A Look Inside

Resorts World Las Vegas

Every corner of the resort is packed with a thoughtful detail that makes you feel like you’ve stepped onto an entirely different plain of existence; you’re no longer in the middle of the Nevada desert. You’re somewhere special, where the world has blended the best it has to offer into a single resort.

Resorts World offers over 3,500 accommodations, with three different Hilton brands; Crockfords, classic Hilton and Conrad. Each one offers guests something unique, to make their stay feel special and personal, and each has its own entrance to the resort. Art across the resort is also carefully curated to be individual and unique, instead of prepackaged. If you’re there for shopping, The District will allow you to browse ware from a variety of stores, including food, wine, spirits, and clothing merchandise to spend the money on that you earn at the casino. Boutique shop brands in The District include Kardashian Kloset, Fred Segal, Judith Leiber, Hervé Léger, and Pepper, an adult toy shop.

And the casino itself is a modern marvel; 117,000 square feet of playing space. The entire floor is fully integrated with a cashless RFID system that will allow guests to just tap the technology to spend instead of lugging around and keeping track of cash.
