Fenty Beauty is known for its inclusiveness and quality products. Created by Robyn Rihanna Fenty, known by fans as Rihanna, Fenty Beauty celebrates the variety of life, and the differing needs of individual human beings. Now, Fenty is offering a brand new product: a fragrance. Fenty Parfum is a hand-picked blend of some of Rihanna’s favorite scents, some expected and some surprising. The effect is a scent that is both sensuous and alluring: just like the star herself.
UPDATE 9/23/21
Vol 3 Premiere
Rihanna slayed last night on the red carpet ahead of the premiere of her Savage x Fenty Vol 3. The newest Savage x Fenty film, which will launch on Amazon Prime Friday September 24th, was celebrated with a night-long display of Rihanna’s personality and beauty.
When she hit the red carpet, Rihanna was wearing lace waist-high tights under a simple black dress with hip-high slits to reveal an ample peak at the singer’s legs for days. Her hair was long and straight with the addition of some playful bangs, and she wore a dark nude lip with a smoky eye. The entrepreneur had diamonds sparkling at wrists, ears, and neck and wore a pair of slide-on platform shoes with a slender but chunky heel.
Hollywood Life shares, “The premiere event was filled with fashion A-listers such as Cynthia Erivo, Whitney Peak, Shanina Shaik, and more. Her latest fashion show will include celebrities like Ricky Martin, Normani, Adriana Lima, Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk, Sabrina Carpenter, and Vanessa Hudgens.“
The film comes in tandem with the launch of the newest Savage x Fenty line, an all-inclusive brand that runs from sizes 32A – 42H/46DDD and XS-3X. Both streaming video and new clothing line will be available from Amazon starting tomorrow – September 24th.
Fenty Parfum
Starting next week, Fenty Parfum will be available online in an exclusive launch. The product has been inspired by Rihanna’s travels; from her hometown of Bridgetown, Barbados, to around the world in unforgettable destinations like Paris and New York City. Included in the blend, hand crafted in Grass, France, under the hand of LVMH Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, are some of Rihanna’s favorite scents.
Page Six shares, “‘That’s the thing I love the most,” [Rihanna] shared in a statement. ‘It’s an experience, it’s a memory, encapsulated into a fragrance. One smell, you’ll never forget it.’
Rihanna, who is known for wearing the pricey Love, Don’t Be Shy by Kilian ($240), created her very own scent with sensual notes of magnolia, musk, tangerine and blueberry and hints of Bulgarian rose absolute, geranium and patchouli.”
Belletrud said of working with the star, per PageSix, “‘I was expecting a star and I met a woman,’ Belletrud said during a press conference.
‘I put Rihanna in the bottle. And that was my goal … it became evident that the perfume had to be, for me, very sensual. When you see her, when you meet her, you are automatically impressed with her.’”
And the perfume is in a hand-picked, amber-hued bottle. That, too was mindful and intentional choice. “‘I wanted a rich color that really represented all genders from across all walks of life,’ Rihanna said.
‘Brown is my favorite color. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I’m going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that. So, I wanted something brown, but also transparent — so you could see the liquid and the fragrance you’re about to experience.’”
The Fenty Empire
Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty is truly an impressive display of entrepreneurship and an ode to inclusivity. The music star wanted to create a brand that catered to people from all walks of life, all genders, all sexes, all skin colors, backgrounds, and budgets. So many brands often cater to one specific niche in order to get it right, but Rihanna rejected that concept and simply broadened her reach.
CELEB‘s Andrea Taylorexplored Rihanna’s Fenty empire last year and wrote, “Fenty Beauty officially launched on September 8, 2017 in 17 countries. In the US, consumers could purchase the products at Sephora or directly through Fenty’s website. In a little over a month, the company had earned $100 million in sales. In the past 3 years, Fenty Beauty has grown into a billion dollar business. While Rihanna’s star power and bold, fresh marketing campaigns undoubtedly helped to fuel sales, the main reason for Fenty’s wild success is simple: the products are amazing and inclusive. Makeup enthusiasts and bloggers rave about the quality, look, feel, and range of Fenty makeup. Reviews on Sephora often contain adjectives like gorgeous, light, airbrushed, and holy grail. Even the packaging and makeup containers themselves are a work of art – modern and sleek yet ethereal at the same time. And here’s the best part: most of Fenty’s products are under $40. Rihanna managed to create high-end makeup at a reasonable price point – not a feat all celebrity makeup lines can accomplish. Fenty Beauty is oil-free, cruelty-free, gluten-free, paraben and phthalate-free.”
Soon after, the Fenty creator launched Fenty Skin, designed to cater to all peoples. With the launch of Fenty Parfum, it’s clear that Rihanna doesn’t occasionally mind offering a product that’s a bit on the pricier end – but with the quality ingredients and Fenty business values, it’s a price worth paying.
Stars With Their Own Perfumes
Rihanna isn’t the only celebrity who has released her own perfume. The following celebrities also have their own signature scents, to varying success:
- Antonio Banderas‘ Diavolo: this was Banderas’ first scent, launched in 1997. Since then, he’s released a variety of perfumes for men and women.
- Nicki Minaj Pink Friday: Minaj’s fragrance was crafted with Elizabeth Arden, and was so successful that she has collaborated with the brand for 5 more since then.
- One Direction: The British boy band created a fragrance called, “Our Moment.” They marketed it to teenaged girls and young women, proving that they’re quite aware of who their audience is.
- Sean Combs Unforgivable: Rapper and entrepreneur “P. Diddy” is known for his successful business ventures, and his cologne line is one of the more successful celebrity brands out there.
- Justin Bieber Someday: The oft-maligned pop star collaborated with Elizabeth Arden for his “Someday” scent, and it was snapped up eagerly by teen girls.
- Beyonce Heat: In 2010, the pop queen worked with Givaudan’s Claude Dir & Olivier Gillotin to release her first perfume, and has since released several more.
- Britney Spears Curios: These days, the pop star herself has been a bit of a curiosity as her conservatorship battle has played out in front of millions. In 2004, in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, Spears released her first scent and over a dozen more have been released since then with the pop star’s name attached.
Whether you’re normally a perfume wearer or not, the business practices and company promise of Fenty may be reason enough to try the new scent. Rihanna has carefully created a brand that welcomes all, and the loyalty and brand growth she has received in return from customers show that people are in fact buying what she’s selling. Now that Fenty Parfum is out, the company is yet again growing in a new direction.
Marie Claire‘s Taylor Glynn writes, “While RiRi is right in saying the scent it’s tough to categorize, fans of creamy florals are sure to love the juice. It’s sweet and sexy at first spray, and as it mellows, its geranium and rose notes shine through. Fenty Eau de Parfum ($120) drops exclusively on Fenty Beauty on August 10 (hot tip: you can get a sample on their site with any $40+ order right now)… ” and recommends setting an alarm to snatch up the perfume before it sells out.
