The Royal Family has not reached out to Prince Harry or Meghan Markle ever since they were caught in a terrifying car chase in New York last week.

News broke in the middle of last week that Harry and Meghan had been chased “for two hours” by aggressive paparazzi through the streets of New York.

Here’s a recap of the news that broke last Wednesday:

A spokesperson for the couple said in a statement, “[May 16], the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi.”

They added, “This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers.”

The statement continues, “While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety. Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved.”

Harry and Meghan’s team allege that traffic violations incurred during the chase included driving on the pavement and through red lights, reversing down a one-way street, illegally blocking a moving vehicle and driving while photographing and while on the phone. They also allege that that while those involved were confronted by uniformed police multiple times, they continued the pursuit and that there is footage taken from security along with other evidence to support these allegations.

But it wasn’t long before multiple people started calling the royal couple’s recollection of events into question.

At one point, police moved the couple from one cab to another. The second cabbie reportedly said that there was no harrowing chase while they were in the car with him, and anything dramatic must have happened earlier.

NYPD also offered a watered-down explanation of events, saying that there was no serious danger and that the situation was under control.

Of course, it almost doesn’t matter.

Harry’s mom, Princess Diana, famously died in a car crash in the late ’90s after being chased by paparazzi, so there’s going to be trauma no matter how events played out.

You would think that would make the royal family eager to reach out and make sure their youngest (albeit wayward) adult family member is doing okay.

However, that does not seem to be the case.

Reportedly, the royals in London have not checked on the young couple – and the silence is thunderous.
