Here are the Short-Lived Celebrity Romances You Might Not Remember

Whirlwind romances are kind of a rite of passage for celebrities. Like everything in Hollywood, love for celebs can be bigger than life – and it can be just as fleeting as fame. News broke this week that Ye – formerly known as Kanye West – and new girlfriend Julia Fox had broken up as he continues his quest for unrequited love in an effort to win back estranged soon-to-be-ex-wife Kim Kardashian

As we watch the newest celebrity relationship implode, CELEB is taking a look back at other short-lived relationships that you may not even remember – but you should. Just imagine if these had worked out and Hollywood had some more titan power couples. WeThrift gathered together some of the best blink-and-you’ll-miss-it celeb relationships for us all to look back on and wonder.

Gigi and Joe

We’re starting with the longest short-lived relationship on our list, and this one has us all starry-eyed and dreaming of what could have been. Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas were a couple – yes really! For a whole six months back in 2015. Fans of course cheekily called them “G.I. Joe” and it seemed like things were going well. Hadid even co-directed the music video for Jonas’s DNCE hit, “Cake by the Ocean.”

Unfortunately, something went wrong. By the end of what many assumed would have been a sweet and wonderful relationship, the two were not on good terms. According to rumors, Jonas even said he would, “Kill” Hadid in a game of, “Marry, Shag, Kill.” Wow, talk about a sweethearts to enemies story! Of course, Hadid and Jonas are what many like to call a doomed, “Age-gap relationship.” When they dated, Hadid was 20 and Jonas 26 – and it’s hard to remember what it’s like to be 20 when you’re knocking on 30’s door.

Ariana and Pete

Ariana Grande may be one of Hollywood’s most desirable stars, and for a time she dated another one of Hollywood’s golden children: Pete Davidson. Do you remember when Davidson and Grande were engaged? It wasn’t a very long romance, just around 5 months – but it got serious, fast. After about a month of dating in 2018, Davidson proposed, and Grande accepted. Grande even even named a song after her beau. But it was not meant to be, and after just 5 minutes they split for good.

Of course, that did ultimately pave the way for West’s ex Kardashian and Davidson to get hot and heavy over the past few months, a romance the world is watching with interest. West continues to think he can win Kardashian back, but she and Davidson seem very happy together – so good luck, Ye.

Leo and Blake

These days when you think of Blake Lively, you think of Ryan Reynolds. They’re an adorable power couple and it’s hard to imagine either of them with anyone else – but once upon a time, Lively was with another Hollywood heavyweight, Leonardo DiCaprio. Back in 2011, they did everything together, including vacationing in Europe.

However, it was another doomed romance that ended after just 5 months. Again though, maybe this was a good thing because it opened the door for Lively/Reynolds, who are undeniably one of the world’s favorite couples. And on that note, Reynolds’ years-long relationship with Scarlett Johanssonended just in time to make way for Lively/Reynolds, which we are grateful for.

Nina and Glen

The dream pairing of Nina Dobrev and Glen Powell happened back in 2017, and it lasted just long enough to leave us wanting more. The pair headed into the holidays seeming solid and full of future – but by Thanksgiving, it was over.

The Vampire Diaries star and Scream Queens star called it quits after just 4 months. Once again though, this ending gave way to something beautiful: Dobrev may be getting engaged to long-time beau and Olympian Shaun White soon, if the rumors are to be believed.

Taylor and Tom

Taylor Swift may be as known for her whirlwind romances almost as much as she’s known for her chart-topping music. So it comes as no surprise that a Swift romance makes the list, but it may surprise you who she dated.

Loki star and heartbreaker Tom Hiddleston dated Taylor Swift – remember that? Back in 2016, the couple had a hot Summer of love before the high-profile nature of the relationship drove them apart after just three months.

Michelle and Zac

They may seem like an odd couple, but there was a time – a very brief time – when Michelle Rodriguez and Zac Efron were an item. We don’t think it’s too campy to say this relationship was Too Fast and Too Furious – they ended things after just two months.

In 2014 the pair blitzed around Europe together briefly before moving on.

Justin and Sofia

Justin Bieber is settled down now with wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber, but once upon a time he dated Sofia Richie. In august of 2016, the pair was briefly an item – very briefly, they just made it a single month.

They spent time together in Mexico and Japan, but international jet setting couldn’t save them, and they split up. You know what we’re going to say though, right? Without the end of Bieber and Richie, we couldn’t have Bieber and Baldwin.

Kaley and Henry

Now for one of the cutest – and quickest of all: Henry Cavill and Kaley Cuoco. Cavill is best known for his roles as Superman, and his weirdly irresistible role as Geralt of Rivia on Netflix’s The Witcher. Cuoco of course played alongside Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki on TheBig Bang Theory

They made a beautiful couple – for exactly 10 days. Unfortunately, the paparazzi buzz that the pair generated with their flawless smiles led the pair to feel too much strain, and they called things quits pretty rapidly. Imagine if they had lasted – Geralt and Penny kids could possibly be the cutest on the planet.

Alas, it was not meant to be. Celebrities can often go from 0 to 60 when it comes to love, because they tend to live life in the fast lane. Of course, that means that the flip side is often true too – and things can end in the blink of an eye. While we don’t wish heartbreak on anyone, there are few things more fascinating than the rise and fall of celebrity love.
