Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas broke hearts everywhere in early September when they announced plans to divorce. Before the split, the duo was Hollywood’s darling couple. But now, things have rapidly degraded over the past few weeks. Jonas has been accused of trashing Turner’s reputation. And as they head into a mediation session, Turner is ready for war. Jonas, sources say, has sincerely underestimated his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas were the perfect couple, once upon a time. Young, beautiful, and desperately in love. At least, that’s what the world saw from the outside.
The duo got together in 2016 after Jonas reportedly slid into the DMs of Turner on social media. By the first of January, 2017, they were an official couple. Things rapidly progressed for the pair, as they adopted a dog together in September of 2017, and announced their engagement a month later. Over the next year and a half, they made multiple high-profile appearances together in public. And charmed their fans with their matchy-matchy, storybook love story.
In May of 2019, they officially tied the knot in Las Vegas. And then again in June, they held a more extravagant ceremony with loved ones to celebrate their nuptials. In 2020 and 2022 they welcomed children together. But over the last year, the parents of two went from in love to over it. On September 5, 2023, Jonas filed for divorce. The couple released a statement on social media the next day which read, “After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
According to rumors online, Jonas heard Turner trash-talking him to a friend. And that was the straw that broke the camel’s back and ended their four-year marriage.

Things rapidly soured between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas in their state of separation. On September 21, Turner sued for custody of both of their children. In court documents, Turner claims Jonas engaged in the “wrongful retention of two children … from their habitual residence of England.” She also claims that she didn’t find out about the divorce from him. Rather, she discovered that he had filed for divorce through the media.
Jonas denied that claim through a representative, who said they had met about the divorce days before. His reps released a statement claiming, “Joe is seeking shared parenting with the kids so that they are raised by both their mother and father, and is of course also OK with the kids being raised both in the U.S. and the U.K. This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending.”
And since filing for divorce, Jonas has tried to paint Turner as the bad guy in the relationship. He has tried to suggest that she’s a partier, and has left him with the kids to go out on the town on many occasions. But Turner isn’t going down without a fight. RadarOnline quotes a media outlet who spoke with a source close to Turner. The insider allegedly called her “livid.” The source added, “Sophie says Joe underestimated her. Sophie knows how desperate Joe is to preserve his squeaky-clean rep, but she can shatter it.”
The duo will enter a four-day mediation session soon to hopefully hammer out the details they can’t seem to come to an accord on. But both sides appear to be preparing for war in this divorce.
