“Twilight” star Taylor Lautner has been a Hollywood heartthrob for a long time now.
But unless your name is Taylor, you’re probably not his type.
Because Lautner has had two high-profile relationships with other Taylors, and now he’s settled down with one of them.
And in another weird twist, his greatest regret in life involves a Taylor – Taylor Swift, to be precise.

Let’s take a trip back in time to 2009.
It was the height of “Twilight” mania. The second movie came out in 2009, and Taylor Lautner was the hottest item in Hollywood – even though he was still just 17 – with teenage girls swooning from sea to sea.
Taylor Swift was also at the height of her popularity. At 19 years old, Swift was still the controversy-free queen, singing country and topping charts.
The Taylors’ worlds collided in 2009 and they went public with their relationship shortly before the 2009 VMAs.
It may be hard to remember a time before the world went belly-up, but 2009’s VMAs are specifically memorable for one particular moment: when Kanye West (who now goes by “Ye”) stormed the stage, grabbed the microphone from a stunned Taylor (Swift), and said his piece.
Swift had just been handed the award for Best Female Video. And the presenter was none other than her new beau, Taylor (Lautner).
Looking sweet and humble in a cream-colored sequined dress, Swift started thanking people for the award.
But suddenly, Ye jumped on stage and grabbed the microphone, angry that artist Beyonce had been passed over for the recognition.
He famously said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you — I’mma let you finish — but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
Swift looked on with an awkward and confused expression, and Lautner looked similarly baffled.
The moment helped launch the meme culture we know and love today, and is still frequently quoted. But it was a sad and embarrassing moment for Swift, and many blasted Lautner for not standing up for his girlfriend.
However, Lautner says now, he had no idea it was a genuine moment.

As it turns out, Lautner thought it was a bit – and that Swift was in on the whole thing.
Lautner and Swift broke up not long after – probably unrelated to the VMA fiasco – and Lautner eventually went on to marry Taylor Dome. Who also goes by Taylor Lautner.
CNN reports, “This is a true tale of Taylors, as actor Taylor Lautner’s wife, Taylor Dome, was all of us with her reaction to him spilling tea about that infamous Taylor Swift and Kanye West MTV VMAs moment.
In a video from their podcast ‘The Squeeze’ posted Wednesday on Tik Tok, Dome asked Lautner, ‘If you could go back to one moment in your life, what moment would that be and what would you say to yourself?’
‘Probably the 2009 VMAs, when I presented the award to Taylor and was unaware that the Kanye thing was not a skit,’ he said, causing his Dome to literally fall back in surprise and say, ‘I’m deceased.’”
Lautner explained that after he handed Swift the award, he took about five steps back so he couldn’t see her face when Ye jumped on stage.
Lautner explains, “I can barely hear it. I can’t see them. I’m just assuming this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit, because why else would Kanye West be jumping on the stage interrupting Taylor Swift? It just didn’t make sense.”
But when he caught a glance of Swift’s face, it became clear that she wasn’t privy to Ye’s plans and was hurt by the entire incident.
Lautner, generally a stand-up guy described by fans as “kind” and “sweet,” clearly regrets not standing up for Swift in such a heated moment, regardless of their former relationship status.
