Taylor Swift can do no wrong to her fans.
At least, until she fell in love.
Let’s back up a minute and talk about what’s going on in the world of Swift and her Swifties.
Back in early April, news broke that Swift had split from her boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn.
And let’s just say that it threw Swifties into a swift tailspin.
Alwyn was their rock – the reason they believed in true love. After all, Swift had been through the ringer in relationships before but was supposedly in it for the long haul with Alwyn. It gave them something to believe in, dream about, and hope for.
When Swift and Alwyn broke up, Swifties described their feelings as a range of “hurt,” “confused,” shocked,” and “betrayed.” Some even went so far as to refuse to believe it. On TikTok, Swifties quickly racked up videos with millions of views brokenheartedly talking about the day they realized that love doesn’t conquer all.
But as far as Swift was concerned, she seemed ready to move on. And move on, she apparently did.
With The 1975 frontman, Matt Healy.
Now, Swifties are confused – and they need their girl to offer a little bit of clarification.
Last month, rumors began to spread that Swift was getting chummy with Healy. They were eventually photographed together in New York City, holding hands.
One would think that this was the recovery ending that Swifties needed to restore their faith in love – but no.
Because Healy is – well, he’s a bit of a problem.
In 2016, Healy said that the idea of dating Taylor Swift (hello foreshadowing) was “emasculating” when speaking with British music magazine, Q.
And in the past, he’s been accused of making antisemitic, Islamaphobic and misogynistic statements.
In January, Healy appeared to give a Nazi salute on stage which led to swift backlash and outcry.

Does that sound like someone the “Love Story” singer would date?
No, it does not.
So fans are more than a little confused.
There are a few possibilities here.
One, that this is a rebound relationship, and it doesn’t really matter because it won’t go anywhere.
Another possibility is that his public image is much ado about nothing. After all, even if it was a short term rebound relationship, could Swift really hold her nose long enough to date someone who’s genuinely a Nazi supporter? It seems unlikely. It should be noted that those close to Healy say that he was making the salute satirically to mock Kanye West, after the rapper told shock jock Alex Jones that he liked Hitler. And given the context of the gesture, it makes sense. However, fans say that it’s not good enough.
And that satire isn’t a good reason to make the salute on stage, regardless of intent.
Recently, Swift told an audience at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, “I’ve just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life ever. And I just want to thank you for being a part of that.”
She added, “It’s not just a tour, I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense.”
So, is Swift falling swiftly for big trouble? Or is there more to the story than fans currently know?
It’s hard to say – but Swifties are quick on the speculation button, so until the singer herself offers some clarify, the rumors will continue to fly.
