Teen Mom's Briana DeJesus: Sister and Daughters Escaped Shooting by 'Seconds'

On April 27, an officer-involved shooting in Kissimmee, Florida, came a little too close for comfort to one Teen Mom star.

The shooting, at a Kissimmee Target, left one dead – and Briana DeJesus counting her lucky stars. DeJesus has spoken out to reveal that her two daughters and sister missed the shooting by mere "seconds."

They Got Out with Only Seconds to Spare

On April 27, Osceola County sheriff deputies shot and killed a man outside of a Target in Kissimmee, FL.

Fox 35 reports, "Wednesday night, Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez confirmed that two of his deputies were involved in the shooting and said both were OK, but he declined to provide any additional details on what led to the shooting, pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. That agency investigates all shooting involving law enforcement.

Thursday afternoon, OCSO said deputies were attempting to detain four suspects when the shooting happened. The news release did not share details as to what led up to the shooting.

However, according to an arrest affidavit for one of the suspects Thursday afternoon, deputies said they were initially called to the Target after two men in masks were seen inside the store allegedly stealing pizza and Pokemon cards."

When the suspects exited the Target, police attempted a "takedown" maneuver, which is when the shooting occurred. One man was transported to the hospital with injuries where he later died, two others were treated, and a fourth was detained on the scene.

And DeJesus's family members were lucky to escape the experience by moments.

The Sun reports, "The Teen Mom 2 star commented on the Florida shooting on Twitter.

Briana, 27, tweeted: 'My sister and my kids were seconds away from experiencing an active shooter at Target.'

She added: 'That s**t is literally mind-blowing.'

The MTV star concluded: 'Prayers go out to those who passed away yesterday or even experienced such a terrifying situation.'"

Luck Has Been with Briana Recently

As it turns out, DeJesus's luck may have been what saved her loved ones.

After all, luck has definitely been on her side recently.

DeJesus was sued by castmate and enemy Kailyn Lowry for defamation. DeJesus said Lowry beat ex and baby daddy Chris Lopez, and Lowry sued her for the comment.

However, last week a judge dismissed the case in favor of DeJesus.

DeJesus's First Amendment rights seem to protect the comment – and the burden of defamation was not met.

Luckily, that turn did not use up all of DeJesus's luck, because her sister and daughters definitely needed it last Wednesday.
