Teen Mom fans are all atwitter today in the wake of Kailyn Lowry leaking some texts she says are between ex Javi Marroquin and her enemy – Briana DeJesus. The messy exchange went down on Instagram and has fans wondering what the truth is. The two have been going head-to-head for years now, and it recently came to a boiling point as Lowry filed a lawsuit against DeJesus for defamation, and the two have been taking snipes at each other online. Here’s a look at what the texts said and what Briana had to say for herself in return.
Kail Leaked Texts Between Briana and Javi
Lowry was married to ex Marroquin from 2012 to 2017, and they share one son together – Lincoln. Lowry shares two children (Lux and Creed) with ex Chris Lopez.
According to the texts that Lowry leaked, DeJesus (real last name Soto) was traveling to Delaware to film a podcast with Lopez. Marroquin lives in Delaware, and the texts show DeJesus reaching out to try to meet up for dinner with him.
In the text, DeJesus leads with, “I may be going to Delaware to film a podcast with Chris. Maybe we can do dinner or something then. Probably end of February early March.”
But Marroquin realizes it’s probably not in his best interest, responding, “Yo yo! Mannn respectfully, that just sounds like a mess for me to get involved. Whatever you and kail got going on is between y’all, but my loyalty is to my sons mom and I don’t think us doing dinner after you do a podcast with Chris would 1) be a good look and 2) just not how I wanna live.”
DeJesus responds, “Okay! I understand.” Then adds, “I wasn’t gonna tell anyone. Just keep it a secret so we can catch up but maybe next time forsure when all this drama goes away.” She caps the conversation with “Have a good day crazy” and a kissing emoji.
After Lowry dropped the texts, DeJesus had some things to say.
Briana Fires Back
DeJesus responded on Instagram stories with a few thoughts, starting with “If it don’t have my number, it ain’t real lmao and pls post everything u have if that’s the case.”
But DeJesus seemed to abandon the, “it’s a hoax” approach quickly, showing proof that she and Marroquin called each other after Lowry dropped the leaked texts, with the caption, “Speaks volumes when nobody can ever stand in ur corner” and “Stop being a weird c–t, stop trying to start drama. Javi m and I are cool. We spoke about the situation. Stop sneaking into ppls accounts and getting information. Javi and I are past the bulls–t and drama.”
Since then, things have gotten even messier. While the internet came for DeJesus for appearing on Lopez’s podcast, she reminded them that Lowry had her ex – Devin – on a podcast first. Eagle-eye fans notice that a picture DeJesus shared of herself after returning from Delaware showed DeJesus wearing the same shirt Lopez is pictured wearing during the podcast – that can’t be a coincidence.
DeJesus eventually released a statement online that reminds people that she and Marroquin dated as well – after he and Lowry broke up – and that she has the right to be friends with him. “Kail wants to keep playing games with me and trying to stoke some fire because she thinks she has the upper hand and is on some quest to destroy me. I’d just advise everyone to think about the following quote – never assume the loud is strong and the quiet is weak.”
The Lawsuit
It all comes down to what’s happening in the court room. DeJesus and Lowry both know that they have to limit their public snipes so they don’t lose in court, but the legal battle itself is messy enough. Lowry first filed a defamation lawsuit against DeJesus for saying she beat her ex, Lopez. According to Lowry, DeJesus made the claims specifically to cause public harm to her.
The Sun reports, “Kailyn claimed Briana ‘has a history of making false public statements regarding Lowry’s family life,’ including when she allegedly responded to a Twitter user ‘[Lowry] gets beat the f**k up by Chris in front of her kids.’
The mother of four was mentioned in the lawsuit when she was excluded from the June 8, 2021, Teen Mom 2 episode.
Briana claimed she wasn’t included because she allegedly ‘committed violent, physical crimes towards Mr. Lopez. Defendant also asserted that Lowry was arrested for breaking and entering into the home of Mr. Lopez’s mother.’
Briana alleged Kailyn ‘didn’t want to film’ about the alleged incident.
However, Kailyn claimed she did not break into Chris’ mother’s home or beat him up.
She alleged the statements ‘threatened’ her ‘ability to earn a living’ and that she suffered ‘personal humiliation and mental anguish.’”
In exchange, DeJesus filed an anti-slapp motion, which protects a person’s freedom of speech. The hearing for that motion is March 29. DeJesus also filed an order of protection against Lowry to stop her from seeking information about DeJesus’s sex life while the case is ongoing – and DeJesus was deposed for that case March 7.
While it’s clear to anyone watching the situation that DeJesus is trying to stir up drama – without crossing a legal line – Lowry leaking the texts is also an attempt to stir things up.
