In a tragic turn of events, a Texas man named Robert Moriarty was apprehended by deputies in Wise County, Texas, after leading them to the bodies of his wife and 11-year-old daughter, which he had concealed in his garage for several months. The arrest took place in Dallas on Tuesday, June 13, following a tip from the brother-in-law of Moriarty’s wife, who had expressed concern over not hearing from her for an extended period, according to Dallas station WFAA.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the brother-in-law on Monday, June 12, directing them to a residence on County Road 4371 near Decatur, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the abandoned home. However, on Tuesday, they located Moriarty in Dallas along with his two youngest children, aged 3 and 10.
Sheriff Lane Akin of Wise County confirmed to WFAA that Moriarty initially denied any knowledge of his wife and oldest daughter’s whereabouts, claiming not to have seen them in six months. However, he eventually confessed to their deaths and revealed that their bodies were concealed in the garage of the Decatur home. The remains of his wife, 42-year-old Kimberly Kellam, and the 11-year-old daughter were subsequently transferred to the Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office. Due to the daughter’s status as a minor, her name has not been disclosed.
This distressing incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Kimberly Kellam and her daughter.
