The Kardashians cancel Christmas 2020. They typically host an annual Christmas Eve party. However, this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have decided to cancel the party. This is the first year the party has been canceled since the tradition began in 1978. Many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Sia, Elon Musk, and more, typically attend the annual party. The party is always over the top and includes snow, bars serving hot chocolate, and hot dog on a stick catered. The party will be missed this year.

Kris Jenner started the annual holiday party in 1978, and it has grown more and more extravagant over the years. Kim Kardashian took over the party in 2018 with her husband, Kanye West. They ended up spending over a million dollars on the party, with Kim transforming her home into a winter wonderland with real snow and an art installation of trees from the Grinch’s Whoville. Kourtney Kardashian took over in 2019 and spent less than her sister, but still managed to spend almost half a million dollars on the event.

The number of covid cases in Los Angeles reaches new records every day. This has resulted in a new stay at home order placed on December 7, which will be in effect for at least three weeks. The stay at home order has been updated due to ICU beds filling up and only having 15% capacity in Los Angeles County. With the COVID-19 pandemic worsening in Los Angeles, the Kardashians have decided to cancel Christmas.

Khloe Confirms Cancellation

Khloe Kardashian

On December 6, Khloe Kardashian responded to a fan on Twitter regarding the annual Christmas party. In her reply, she stated, “The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year. It’s the first time we will not be having a Christmas Eve party since 1978 I believe. Health and safety first though! Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”

Khloe also responded to another fan on Twitter about their annual Christmas card picture, “We have not done anything. No Christmas photos and no Christmas Eve party this year. Covid has taken over.” The Kardashians usually get together every holiday season to take a family Christmas picture to post online and wish everyone happy holidays. However, this year, they will not be gathering for the picture.

While Khloe and the family seem to be taking the pandemic seriously by canceling the annual party and photos, many fans are upset by Khloe’s tweets. People are upset because the Kardashians clearly did not care about the ongoing pandemic when they posted from Kim’s private island party in October. Therefore, people are wondering why they are taking precautions now.

The Kardashians’ Winter Wonderland

While the Kardashians have canceled their annual holiday party, they still wanted to enjoy the holiday season. Therefore, they rented out an estate in Lake Tahoe to experience their own winter wonderland. Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Kris Jenner all spent a few days in Lake Tahoe to see some snow and enjoy the quality time together.

The girls took their production crew to film some content for their upcoming final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The estate they rented is 15 acres and has 18 bedrooms, plus a private movie theater. It has even been featured on Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor.

While the Kardashians were in Lake Tahoe, they enjoyed playing in the snow, ice skating, and much more, which will most likely be seen on their reality show. They also returned just in time since Los Angeles went into another lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic right after they got back from the trip.

The Kardashians’ Christmas Plans

Kylie Jenner

While the Kardashians cancel Christmas with their party no longer happening, they will still find other ways to celebrate. Kylie Jenner started the holiday season with the release of her Grinch collection. She collaborated with How the Grinch Stole Christmas to create a unique holiday collection for her makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics.

The collection debuted on November 17 and included an assortment of lipsticks, eyeshadows, and much more inspired by the Grinch. The packaging is all green and red and includes the Grinch. The Grinch also inspires the makeup names with names like “Who-Ville” and “Green N Mean.” The collection was quick to sell out and is one of Jenner’s most popular collections.

Kylie also began decorating her Calabasas home before Thanksgiving. She has a massive Christmas tree and many miscellaneous decorations throughout her home, like stockings and Santa dolls. Another Kardashian who has gotten into the holiday spirit is Khloe Kardashian. She recently put up her Christmas tree, covering it in fake snow and silver ornaments. Kim Kardashian also decorated her home, reusing the same decorations from 2019 inspired by the Grinch’s Whoville.

Even though the Kardashians’ Christmas party is canceled this year, there are many other covid safe ways for them to celebrate the holiday season.
