The Met Gala is famously known as the year’s biggest fashion event, which happens on the first Monday of May at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Every year Anna Wintour hosts a theme for guests to dress up to, this year celebrating the work of the late Karl Lagerfeld. Attendees looks must be “in honor of Karl,” kicking off the Costume Institute exhibition at the Met, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” Undoubtedly, we can expect stunning inspiration walking along the carpet this evening as Lagerfeld has designed for many houses including Balmain, Chanel, Fendi, a brand of his own, and more.

As usual, Vogue will be live streaming the event (well, the carpet) so fans near and far can be awed by the creative looks. Hosting will be La LA Anthony, Derek Blasberg, Chloe Fineman, and special correspondent Emma Chamberlain.
As for what goes on inside well, that’s a secret. All guests must abide by a no phone policy so naturally, no social media (unless your Kylie Jenner and break the rules). What we do know is that the event typically included a high-profiler performer and guests have the opportunity to explore the Met’s new exhibition before sitting down together for dinner.
Be A Met Gala Guest Of Your Own
Who needs a ticket to the Met Gala when you can host your own right?
Met Gala watch parties are the second best place to be if you don’t have an invite to the event itself. And, what’s a party without a few theme-inspired cocktails? Instead of bringing red carpet looks to your best pal’s soiree, show up with red carpet cocktails that’ll impress just as much.

Created By Random Ward, Woodford Reserve Texas Brand Ambassador
1 oz brown butter fat washed Woodford Reserve Bourbon
1 oz Woodford Reserve Rye
1/4 oz Earl Gray Rich Simple Syrup
2.5 mL Woodford Reserve Sorghum & Sassafras bitters
Served with brown butter scones with a bourbon glaze.
Brown butter fat wash: Melt 1 stick of butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly and observe until milk solids brown and there is a distinctly nutty aroma. Pour directly into 2 cups of Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Allow to infuse overnight in the fridge. Strain off after a minimum of 10 hours (coffee filter).
Earl Gray Syrup: Brew very strong Earl Gray tea. I used 2 teabags for 200g of hot water. Add 400g of white granulated sugar to the brewed tea. Stir until dissolved. (this is a 2:1 rich simple syrup)
