Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno, The Family Chantel stars, are getting a divorce. Jimeno filed for divorce on May 27, saying that their marriage was "irretrievably broken," according to documents obtained by In Touch. He also asked that there be an equal split of everything between them. Everett responded with her own counterclaims on July 7. She requested a divorce as a result of "adultery" and "cruel treatment," referring to "physical domestic violence, as well as mental pain." According to the court documents, Everett explained that their "marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation."
The question of adultery on Jimeno's part has been relevant for a little bit now. During the couple's television show his close relationship with his co-worker, Antonella Barrenechea, has been an ongoing issue.
Today's episode of The Family Chantel showed Everett confronting her husband about how much time he spends with Barrenechea, leading her up to ask the ultimate question, "Are you cheating on me?"
Well, Is Pedro Cheating?!
Everett explained, "One night, I off work the entire day, cleaned the house, and start to cook. At 8:30 I called you, asked you where you were and you were at the mall with Antonella,” Chantel said. “You’re picking her up and taking her to work, you’re taking her from the car mechanic, you’re basically her do-boy and you’re at her every whim.”
She concluded, “You’re just leaving it to my imagination to run wild, Pedro!”
To which Jimeno responded, "Don't trust me, that's it." Oh man, not the response someone wants to get to that question.
This forced Chantel to ask the bigger question, “Are you cheating on me?”
Jimeno responded, “No, I no [sic] cheating on you. I swear to God, [if] I were cheating on you, I [would have] left the house a long time ago.” He then questioned, “Why, because my coworker is a woman?”
He continued, "Really, I spend time with my friends, with my coworkers, and then you think that [I’m] cheating on you. I don’t want to feel [sic] because that’s not love for me.”
Who Is Antonella Barrenechea?
Barrenechea is from Lawrenceville, Georgia, and graduated from Grady High School in 2020, according to her Instagram bio. Amid this drama, she actually has a boyfriend who she's been with since October 2018.
She started her career in real estate around the same time as Jimeno which his reason for why the two are so close. During his confessional he explained, "My boss put me and her together for {sic} learning together."
During her confessional, Barrenechea shared, "Pedro is great, he’s very professional, he’s a go-getter." She continued, “we’re always trying to push each other. Sometimes he gets things faster than me and I’m like, ‘OK, teach me how,’ and he does it really gratefully. He’s very humble and a very honest person.”
Jimeno got more candid about how his new friendships were affecting his relationship with Chantel saying, "Everybody in the office, you know, we get along. You know, like, Latinos, our community, is so close. I feel like [it’s] a family there. [I’m] so comfortable there, making my new friends, you know? And I believe that Chantel [is] jealous of that.” He continued, “[I’ve] been all these years, you know, trying to help her to make her career, you know? I tried to be supportive [for] her. But I believe that Chantel doesn’t know how to be happy for me.”
Pedro has denied cheating but has accused Chantel of something else.
$257,000 And A Restraining Order Apart
With his divorce filing, Jimeno also claimed that Everett allgedly withdrew over $257,000 from their joint business account and transferred the money into an account under her and her sister's name.
Jimeno claimed that he tried to "resolve this matter amicably," but all in all, that didn't work.
He requested that Everett, “be required to transfer the money into an joint checking account that both Parties are able to access and to be required to only use the monies for household expenses until such time that this Court renders equitable division of those monies to the Parties” and requested that Chantel be “required to provide an financial account/record of any and all monies that have been spent out of the monies that were removed from the Parties’ joint business account from the date it was transferred on or about April 23rd 2022 until present.”
He also claimed that Everett “is aware the Plaintiff is financially dependent on the monies from the Parties joint business account for his monthly expenses and the Defendant removed the monies out of the Parties joint business account out of spite and to prohibit the Plaintiff from meeting his monthly living expenses and needs.”
However, on May 31, a judge denied Jimeno's motion for an emergency hearing.
In the meantime, the couple has been issued a mutual restraining order in which they are “restrained from doing or attempting to do, or threatening to do, any act that injures, maltreats, vilifies, intimidates, molests or harasses the adverse party, restrained from selling, encumbering, trading, contracting to sell or otherwise disposing or removing from the jurisdiction of the court any property belonging to the parties except in the ordinary course of business, restrained from canceling or changing health, auto, or life insurance for the parties and restrained from disconnecting or having disconnected the home utilities, including but not limited to electricity, gas, water, and telephone."
