Tom Sandoval is trying to garner sympathy from the public over his affair with former Vanderpump Rules co-star Raquel Leviss. Sandoval’s reputation took a massive nosedive in the weeks and months after news of Scandoval broke. And as a result, he’s now hoping that he can turn people’s hearts in his favor. The VPR star recently broke down over the entire affair on an episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Madix Takes The Sympathy After Scandoval News Breaks

The walls all came tumbling down for Tom Sandoval in March of 2023. He and Ariana Madix appeared as a couple for the first time on Vanderpump Rules in 2014. As the rest of the cast waxed and waned through various relationships, the duo stayed steady. They seemed to be doing well and overcame everything life threw at them. Or so it seemed.
However, Sandoval was getting hot and heavy in secret with Madix’s best friend, Raquel Leviss. Being Madix’s best friend gave her unprecedented proximity and trust, and allowed Leviss to spend time with Sandoval without arousing the former’s suspicion. All the while, however, Sandoval and Leviss were slowly falling in love. Or quickly, depending on who you ask.
In March, Madix found a sexually explicit video from Leviss on Sandoval’s phone, and it all came out. The duo had been engaging in an illicit affair for months behind Madix’s back. While Sandoval and Leviss attempted to humanize themselves for the public, all sympathy went to Madix. Her career skyrocketed after Scandoval news broke, while Sandoval and Leviss struggled with their images. Sandoval stuck around on VPR and locked in a few high-profile reality appearances on other shows. Leviss, on the other hand, disappeared.

Now, Tom Sandoval is hoping that people will feel sympathy for the disgraced business owner. In a clip of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test shared by PageSix, Sandoval broke down over his feelings on the whole affair. The tearful TomTom owner shared, “I’ve had a hell of a, like, three months.” Special Forces staff then asked why he was having a hard time, to which Sandoval replied that he had had an affair.
He told the trainers, “She’s also on [Vanderpump Rules]. It was just the perfect storm, like, my publicist had never seen anything like it. ‘A f—king reality star having an affair’ [was] on CNN? It’s so stupid.” He added emotionally, “It became this ‘Team Ariana’ thing. They sold $200,000 in merch in, like, two weeks.” Sandoval then recalled how it felt for friends to pick sides; “Seeing people I’ve been friends with for well over a decade just turn on me, it was just so exhausting.”
But Sandoval’s DS trainers on Special Forces didn’t have a lot of sympathy for the VPR star. They said it was “pathetic” to see Sandoval “play [the] victim” when he isn’t one. Mark “Billy” Billingham summarized, “The first thing you should be doing is owning it.”
As of now, it seems as though Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix are still living together, but not speaking. Which must be awkward. But not as awkward as the fact that Sandoval and Raquel Leviss, who claim to be in love, aren’t speaking to each other either. After losing everything to be together.
