We can all agree that 2020 was definitely a wild year. We mean, between the coronavirus pandemic, the killer bees and the election, it’s definitely going to go down in history!
It turns out, there’s a lot that went down in Hollywood too. Yep, some of our favorite celebrities got into some major fights this year, including Taylor Swift, Chrissy Teigen, Nicki Minaj and more. We went ahead and recapped the biggest celebrity feuds from 2020, so sit back, get some popcorn and prepare for some major drama.
Taylor Swift And Scooter Braun
Although their feud technically started last year, it continued well into 2020. Yep, for those who missed it, the “Lover” songstress has been fighting with Scooter Braun since June 2019, when he bought her old record label, Big Machine Records, and therefore gained the rights to all of her old music. At the time, Swift claimed that she was not told about the deal before hand, and accused the music mogul of bullying her.
In November 2020, the blonde beauty reignited the feud when she criticized him once again online. This time, she called Braun out for selling her masters to a private equity firm called Shamrock Capital Content Fund without her knowledge. She also claimed that she was going to re-record all of her old songs so that she could “regain a sense of pride.”
Taylor Swift And Kim Kardashian
That’s not the only person Swift feuded with this year. Yep, she her longtime fight with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West was also reignited in March 2020, when the full audio from her phone call with the rapper regarding his song “Famous” leaked online.
For those who missed it, the drama started all the way back in 2009, when West jumped on stage during Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards and told her that Beyoncé deserved the award for Best Music Video instead of her. Then, things got worse when the 43-year-old released his song “Famous” a few years later. Why? Well, he actually called the pop star a “b***h” in the track, and claimed that he was the reason she was famous.
Long story short, after it came out, Swift got upset about the line, but West claimed that she had given him her approval before the song came out. Swift said that wasn’t true, but when Kardashian released an alleged snippet from a phone call between Swift and West where they discussed the song, it seemingly proved West right.
“If people ask me about it, look, I think it would be great for me to be like, ‘He called me and told me before it came out — Joke’s on you, guys. We’re fine,” Swift could be heard saying during the phone call.
But in March 2020, the full audio leaked, and it appeared that Swift was telling the truth after all and that the one Kardashian had shared was edited. After it came out, Swift used it as an opportunity to attempt to raise money for the coronavirus pandemic.
“Instead of answering those who are asking how I feel about the video footage that leaked, proving that I was telling the truth the whole time about *that call* (you know, the one that was illegally recorded, that somebody edited and manipulated in order to frame me and put me, my family and fans through hell for four years)… Swipe up to see what really matters,” she wrote on her Stories, alongside a link to Feeding America — an organization designed to help deliver food to those who can’t afford to eat.
After that, Kardashian completely slammed Swift online, responding on her own Instagram Stories, “@taylorswift has chosen to reignite an old exchange — that at this point in time feels very self-serving given the suffering millions of real victims are facing right now. I didn’t feel the need to comment a few days ago, and I’m actually really embarrassed and mortified to be doing it right now, but because she continues to speak on it, I feel I’m left without a choice but to respond because she is actually lying. To be clear, the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘b***h’ was used without her permission. At the time when they spoke the song had not been fully written yet, but as everyone can see in the video, she manipulated the truth of their actual conversation in her statement when her team said she ‘declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.’”
Megan Thee Stallion And Tory Lanez
In July 2020, Megan Thee Stallion — whose real name is Megan Pete — shocked the entire world when she claimed that fellow rapper Tory Lanez had shot her in the foot. According to CBS, they got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills, and as Pete was exiting the vehicle, Lanez allegedly shot at her feet several times, wounding her. Lanez was arrested and charged in October with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Tati Westbrook And Jeffree Star And Shane Dawson
Many fans were left shook in June 2020 when Tati Westbrook posted a tell-all video, and she claimed that Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson had “manipulated” her into turning on James Charles. For those who missed it, one year earlier, the YouTuber posted another video where she called Charles out for being a bad friend.
“I made [the video] because of all the poisonous lies that were fed to me by Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star,” she explained. “I should have known better than to fall for their lies and manipulation but in the end I failed and, instead, I allowed Shane and Jeffree to put a wedge between our friendship.”
After her admission, Morphe announced that they were no longer going to work with Star. He didn’t address her accusations online, but Dawson did respond in a video of his own, and claimed that they were all “lies.”
Chrissy Teigen And Alison Roman
Teigen and food columnist Alison Roman‘s drama started in May 2020, when the criticized the star during an interview with News Consumer.
“What Chrissy Teigen has done is so crazy to me. She had a successful cookbook. And then it was like: Boom, line at Target. Boom, now she has an Instagram page that has over a million followers where it’s just, like, people running a content farm for her. That horrifies me,” she said. “It’s not something that I ever want to do. I don’t aspire to that. But like, who’s laughing now? Because she’s making a ton of (expletive) money.”
When Teigen caught wind of her comments, she took to Twitter to respond, writing, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so bummed out by the words of a fellow food-lover. I just had no idea I was perceived that way, by her especially.”
But it looks like things are all good between them now! Roman actually took to Instagram to publicly apologize days later.
“I need to formally apologize to Chrissy Teigen. I used [her] name disparagingly to try and distinguish myself, which I absolutely do not have an excuse for,” she wrote.
Isaiah Washington And Katherine Heigl
It looks like there’s some bad blood between Isaiah Washington and his former Grey’s Anatomy costar Katherine Heigl. On November 17, 2020, the actor posted an old photo of him and Heigl, which he captioned, “This woman once proclaimed that I should ‘never’ be allowed to speak publicly again. The world agreed with her proclamation back then and protested for my job and my head in 65 languages. I wish I was on Twitter in 2007, because I will NEVER stop exercising my free speech.”
Back in 2007, Washington was accused of using a homophobic slur by the actress, but at the time, he denied ever saying it.
Nicki Minaj And Meek Mill
Minaj and her ex Meek Mill did not hold back when they got into a public fight back in February 2020. More than four years after their relationship ended, the rapper accused Mill of physically abusing her via Twitter.
At the time, he responded, “You sad you willing to crash your man because you losing now and everybody in the industry know you a bad person. You picked a great time to be saying I ever put my hands on you… you full of hate and the whole industry know you full of hate… and ya bag getting low, so you wanna destroy me. The only way you can try to kill my career is to say I beat women. Talk about ya brother convicted of rape and you been knew and paid for his lawyer.”
“My girl is with me pregnant watching me tweet about my ex is very clownish … Ima exit,” he continued. “For clarification I don’t hit women and I won’t let my interviews be filled with question about her or any situation to do with her when I come out to do press for my new album! No devils tricks.’
Bhad Bhabie And Skai Jackson
Things got so bad between Bhad Bhabie and Skai Jackson, that the former Disney star had to get a restraining order against the rapper. Back in February 2020, Bhad Bhabie, whose real name is Danielle Bregoli, accused the actress of “talking s**t” about her on her private Instagram account and flirting with her ex-boyfriend, NBA YoungBoy, during an Instagram Live.
“Why are you so obsessed with me, b***h? I will literally kill you,” she said to Jackson. “I don’t know why you’re not understanding that. You’re so small, if I get my hands on you… it’s over, you’re going to the hospital. Get all the money you can, get all the shows and commercials you can because when I get ahold of you, you ain’t gonna be doing none of that s**t no more.”
After the “Gucci Flip Flops” songstress made the threats, the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles granted the Jessie alum with a restraining order against the influencer. According to People Magazine, the restraining order required Bhad Bhabie stay at least 100 yards away from the 17-year-old. Additionally, she was not allowed to have any contact with Jackson, even on social media.
In June 2020, Bhad Bhabie revealed via a statement on Instagram that she was taking some time off to work on herself. After that, Jackson reportedly dropped her restraining order against Bhad Bhabie.
“Because Danielle stopped threatening me after the Court ordered her to do so, and now that she’s made the decision to work on herself through rehab and therapy, I’m pleased that I don’t need to extend my restraining order,” she told TMZ. “If she goes back to her old ways, of course, we’ll have to change that, but I hope and believe that it won’t be necessary. I think it’s great that Danielle is getting the help she feels she needs. I wish her nothing but the best on her road to recovery.”
Chelsea Handler And 50 Cent
Chelsea Handler and her ex 50 Cent got into a Twitter fight earlier this year over political differences. Yep, after the musician supported President Donald Trump on Twitter, the talk show host responded and said, “You used to be my favorite ex-boyfriend.”
“Oh my God this is effecting my love life now,” he responded. “I love ya Gator, don’t let Trump and Joe Biden come between us girl.”
But Handler clapped back, “I will pay for your taxes in exchange for you coming to your senses. Happily! Black lives matter. That’s you! Remember?”
Megan Fox And Brian Austin Green
Things got messy between exes Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green in October 2020, when the actor shared a snap of their son, Journey, to Instagram. The actress was not here for it, writing in the comment section underneath the post, “Why does Journey have to be in this picture? It’s not hard to crop them out. Or choose photos that they aren’t in. I had a great halloween with them yesterday, and yet notice how absent they are from my social media. I know you love your kids. But I don’t know why you can’t stop using them to posture via Instagram.”
“You’re so intoxicated with feeding the pervasive narrative that I’m an absent mother, and you are the perennial, eternally dedicated dad of the year,” she continued. “You have them half of the time. Congratulations you truly are a remarkable human! Why do you need the internet to echo back to you what should be inexhaustibly evident in the way your children love you?”
He ended up deleting the post and reposting it with the 4-year-old cropped out.
