UPDATE: CELEB has confirmed former President Trump’s allegations about DeSantis were completely false. To use his term, “FAKE NEWS.” However, it doesn’t matter as the MAGA base has taken Trump’s statement as fact and in the world of public perception, Trump’s poll numbers have increased since he claimed this information on Truth Social.
Original story (June 15, 2023): Former President Donald Trump recently spread a rumor suggesting that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with underage girls while working as a high school teacher in Georgia. However, Governor DeSantis swiftly dismissed these baseless claims. The rumor originated from a caption accompanying two photos posted on Truth Social, a social media platform founded by Trump.
These photos, originally sourced from a blog article, falsely implied that DeSantis was involved in improper conduct during his time as a teacher. In response to the photos and accompanying caption, Trump expressed surprise and disbelief, emphasizing that he did not believe Governor DeSantis would engage in such behavior. The images in question were previously featured in an October 2021 report by HillReporter.com, a blog associated with a Democratic super PAC.
The report made baseless accusations, suggesting that DeSantis had partied with students during his tenure as a history teacher at Darlington School in Georgia. It claimed that the photo, provided by an anonymous source, was taken before graduation, implying that the girls involved were under DeSantis’ responsibility at the time.
Governor DeSantis’ past employment at Darlington School has been previously reported. He taught at the school during the 2001-2002 academic year, between his graduation from Yale University and his enrollment at Harvard Law School. While some students recalled seeing DeSantis at parties with seniors residing in the town, there is no evidence to support any inappropriate or unprofessional behavior on his part. The allegations made by the blog report and subsequent social media posts are unfounded and lack credibility.
Governor DeSantis wasted no time in addressing and dismissing the false rumors. He categorically denied the allegations, reiterating his commitment to ethical conduct throughout his teaching career. DeSantis firmly stated that the claims made against him were baseless and intended to smear his reputation. He expressed his disappointment that such unfounded rumors were being circulated, emphasizing the need for factual reporting and responsible use of social media.
