Vessel And The Arbor Day Foundation Share A Goal of Planting 5

As of September 21st, Zero Emissions Day, Vessel will make a donation to plant one tree for every purchase over $49, with the option to make additional donations at checkout.

The community-led, luxury cannabis accessory brand stands apart because of its mission to put the people and the planet first with products that put user experience at the top while also being leaders of change towards sustainability in the industry. “At Vessel, we are committed to holistic wellness, whether that’s personal wellness, that of the community, or in this case the environment — we believe it is all interconnected and equally important,” said CEO and Founder, James Choe.

The Arbor Day Foundation, founded in 1972, has managed to become the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees. They have over 1 million members, supporters, and valued partners. And, over the past 50 years, the Arbor Day Foundation has planted more than 500 million trees in neighborhoods, communities, cities, and forests throughout the world.

Vessel, acquired last year by Flora Growth, recently announced their partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 5,000 trees by the end of 2022.

“Let’s Do This Together” -Vessel

“Our mission at Vessel is always about creating better experiences for our customers by creating meaningful impact in all that we do. As drivers of innovation and change, we look to cultivate the right partnerships with a common goal to work toward a more sustainable future. We’re excited to announce our partnership with Arbor Day Foundation to help spread awareness and do our part to drive sustainability efforts,” says Choe.

The cannabis brand will be focusing its reforestation efforts on Michigan State Forests, as they were identified as areas of critical need. The Arbor Day Foundation selects its locations for reforestation each year, measured by the effects of deforestation, tree disease, infestation by insects, and natural disasters such as wildfires.

The Foundation believes that a tree can be a solution. "Capturing carbon emissions, supporting marginalized communities, protecting biodiversity, mitigating the effects of climate change — we can’t live without trees," reads the Arbor Day Foundation website.

[Properly] Disposing of The Industry’s Waste

Vessel offers a high-end line of cape pen batteries and accessories. Their batteries last about 300 charge cycles and include optimized power settings to avoid burning through oil quickly hence fewer batteries and cartridges that end up in the trash.

Back in April of 2021, Vessel partnered with GAIACA to create solutions for cannabis waste, specifically to make recycling batteries easier.

“Our mission is to help operators handle and revitalize their waste in an environmentally friendly manner within this highly regulated market, so they can get back to doing what they do best,“ said GAIACA’s Co-Founder and CEO, Jonathan Lee.

Utilizing GAIACA collections services includes:

  • Monthly collection of Vape Pen Batteries

  • Collection and pre-processing on dispensary premises

  • Secure deposit by consumers in a sleek, locked front-of-house collection box

  • Back-of-house collection box for dispensary consolidation

Universal waste is then processed through a multi-step high-temperature, high-pressure process that separates the batteries into their component materials. Those materials are separated, collected, and sold for reuse.
