Yesterday, Viktor & Rolf welcomed their guests of Paris fashion week into a surreal world of gravity-defying ball gowns. They played with the idea of deconstruction as models walked the runway in corseted undergarments that peaked through or were entirely visible depending on the placement of the gown they adorned.

The mesmerizing collection titled “Late Stage Capitalism Waltz,” which featured shimmering gowns, stiffened tulle, and unorthodox placements was described as “a parade of dreamlike yet surrealist construction.”

Fashion That Turns Heads [Upside Down]

At the Viktor & Rolf Spring-Summer 2023, haute couture show in Paris models strutted down the catwalk in stunning princess-like gowns that were flipped in every which way. They showcased 18 voluminous dresses that were absolutely eye-catching and we’re not just talking about the gowns themselves, but instead how they were worn.

Some models of the Viktor & Rolf show appeared as anyone would but, others were seen with gowns rested horizontally, diagonally, and one even entirely upside down. Do you think this show was followed up with a neck message?

Viktor & Rolf Win Fashion Week

Although there technically is no trophy for first place in fashion week, do you think it’s fair to say that Viktor & Rolf won this one?

This positively insane take on couture reminded us of what the runway is all about – creativity that goes beyond conventional fits. It’s very unlikely that you will see someone walk into a formal event with a dress resting horizontally and their undergarments out for the show but, Viktor & Rolf make us question “why not be that person?”

One Twitter user wrote, “Couture shows are meant to be over the top, fun and completely unrealistic to buy for everyday use and Viktor & Rolf absolutely nailed this.”

Michelle Visage, producer and judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race commented on Instagram, You’ll see them on the runway of @rupaulsdragrace THAT’s for sure.”

Where do you think you’ll come across this innovative and captivating design? The Met Gala? An award show? And, which celebrity do you think is likely to make the bold statement first?
