White House Press Secretary Abruptly Ends Press Conference with President Biden in Vietnam – “I’m Going to Bed”
White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, abruptly concluded a news conference with President Joe Biden in Hanoi, Vietnam on Sunday.

White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, abruptly concluded a news conference with President Joe Biden in Hanoi, Vietnam on Sunday. At one point, she took the microphone and announced that the event had ended, even as the president was still responding to questions from reporters in the room.
As President Biden was addressing shouted questions from the press, Jean-Pierre stepped up to the microphone and declared, “Thank you, everybody – this ends the press conference.” Although Biden remained on stage for a brief moment following her announcement, he responded to one additional question, but his full answer was inaudible.
Biden had already taken the five questions from reporters in the room, as was announced at the beginning of the press conference. He then humorously mentioned, “I tell you what, I don’t know about you, but I’m going to bed,” before continuing to address additional questions about his conversation with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Throughout the press conference, Biden acknowledged the demands of his whirlwind trip, making light of it at one point, saying, “These five-day trips around the world are no problem.”
Minutes before Jean-Pierre ended the press conference, Biden delivered a lengthy answer that included a rambling explanation of his use of the phrase “lying dog-faced pony soldier” to describe politicians who deny climate change.
This incident comes in the wake of a recent CNN poll showing that approximately three-quarters of Americans express concerns about Biden’s age affecting his physical and mental competence and his ability to serve another full term if reelected. Biden’s supporters have dismissed these concerns, citing his energy levels during grueling international trips as evidence that age is not an issue.
Jean-Pierre previously stated on CNN that “no other president has been able to do” the job like Biden, emphasizing his ability to connect with the American people and address issues that matter to them effectively.
