It’s been nearly a year since SKIMS founder Kim Kardashian and comedian Pete Davidson broke up. It was a sad moment, because let’s face it – everyone was rooting for the unlikely duo.
Now, Kardashian has revealed what led to their breakup.
Season 3 of “The Kardashians” premiered on Hulu on May 25, and Kardashian dropped a lot of revelatory bombshells.
Including the fact that she thinks that ex husband Kanye West’s wild behavior will do more damage to their kids than her infamous sex tape with Ray J.
But also, Kardashian explained what happened between her and Davidson.
In a confessional interview during the season premiere, Kim told the camera, “OK, I’m single. I’m single and I’m not ready to mingle and that’s OK.”
In the episode, Scott Disick asked Kim how she felt about the split. It was her first major breakup since divorcing West, and it was clear that the couple was deeply in love and enjoying their time together – so what happened?
Kardashian responded, “Breakups are just not my thing … I’m proud of myself.”
She continued, “We just had talks and talks, we had been talking about it. So it was both of us just communicating really well about it. It’s obviously sad.”
Kardashian goes on to say that she’s not really into the whole “random hookups” culture, and she prefers to be in long-term relationships.
She also says that Davidson was put through the ringer because of ex-husband Ye. Kim said, “There was a lot of guilt. He went through a lot because of my relationship.”
And in another confessional interview, Kim says that she’s worried at times about finding a future partner.
She explains, “I go back and forth on my feelings sometimes like, ‘Uh, who’s ever gonna wanna date me? I have four kids, I’m in my 40s, you know? Like, oh my god, who’s gonna wanna deal with the drams?’ But my person will be like, ‘F—k all of that, it’s gonna be hard but we’re together and we’re gonna do this.’ So I’m just waiting for that person.”
It’s clear that a combination of a busy schedule and drama from West made Kardashian and Davidson’s relationship untenable, but it’s sad.
Finding love in your 40s – especially as a mom with four kids – is tough for anyone, even someone like Kardashian. So to have it and to feel it slip away is definitely, as Kardashian says, “Sad.”
But that’s not the end of things for Kim. Kardashian just finished her midterms in law school, and she’s eyeing 2024 to take the bar exam and become an attorney officially.
This would further Kardashian’s dream of working in the criminal justice system to defend those wrongfully incarcerated – something she’s been dedicating herself to for several years now.
Even though things didn’t work out with Davidson now, she’s definitely got good things on the horizon.
And, who knows – maybe she and Davidson will find themselves back in a position to try again. While they certainly made the odd couple visually, they were adorable. And the world – and Kim – needs more adorable love.
