It’s official, you guys — after years of speculation, Tom Holland and Zendaya have finally confirmed that they’re a couple! Yep, the pair was spotted sharing in a steamy make out session while driving around Los Angeles, CA, on Thursday, July 1, and we are so here for this relationship. In photos obtained by Page Six, the two stars could be seen packing on the PDA while riding around in Holland’s $125,000 Audi sports car. Earlier that day, they were also caught leaving a building with Zendaya’s mom, Claire Stoermer, so it appears that the actor has already met his girlfriend’s family!
As fans know, people have been speculating that the Spider-Man costars were secretly dating for a while now, so the fact that they were photographed kissing is the confirmation they have all been waiting for! Zendaya And Tom Holland First Met In 2016
Zendaya and Holland first met in 2016 when they were both cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Right away, they instantly hit it off and got super close — constantly hanging out and sharing tons of cute pics together online. Zendaya later shared Holland’s first impression of her, and boy, was it adorable.
“He says when we first met it was super awkward because he went for a handshake and I went for a hug,” she told Variety. “But I don’t remember that. I thought it was cool.”

During an interview at the premiere of their movie, Holland couldn’t stop gushing over Zendaya. He did, however, refer to her as his “best friend.” He said, “We are like the best of friends. She’s so great and amazing. I’m a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she’s been through this and I just call her up and say, ‘How do I manage being famous?’ I’m very glad I have a friend like her.”
Reports Emerged In 2017 That Claimed They Were Dating
By 2017, everyone was convinced that something was going on between them, which is why when People Magazine reported that they were indeed a couple, everyone was so happy about it!
“They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man,” a source told them. “They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another.”
Another insider added, “They’re both really ambitious and they challenge each other — but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humor and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth.”
But according to Zendaya, it was all lies. She reposted the article on Twitter and claimed it wasn’t true, writing, “Wait wait… My favorite is when it says we go on vacations together HA! I haven’t been on a vacation in years! [How about you] @TomHolland1996?”

She also told Variety, “We are friends. No [there’s no romance]. He’s a great dude. He’s literally one of my best friends. This past how many months we’ve had to do press tours together. There’s very few people that will understand what that’s like at 20 years old.”
People Were Still Convinced That They Were An Item
Despite her denying the rumors, the costars continued to spend a lot of time together. And when Zendaya walked the red carpet at the 2018 Met Gala, Holland took to Instagram to obsess over her look!

They also shared super cute tributes for each other on their birthdays. Oh, and did we mention that their mutual friend Skai Jackson‘s mom seemingly confirmed that they were secretly dating in an Instagram comment?
“It’s true,” she wrote to a fan who asked if they were together. “They been on the low for a while.”
She then deleted it and denied that she ever wrote the comment, however, many fans were quick to take screenshots. The actor later opened up about how hard it is for him to date in the public eye to GQ Magazine, and many people thought that he was referring to his relationship with Zendaya. However this is still unconfirmed, of course.
“It is incredibly frustrating. It’s very nerve-racking. It means that if you are dating someone, you have to be really conscious of their feelings, because if something does happen between the two of you, it’s not just happening between the two of you, it’s happening in front of the entire world,” he told the outlet. “And it can be very complicated.”
They Were Both Linked To Other People
Whatever was going on between them seemed to have fizzled out by 2019. How do we know? Well, it appeared that Zendaya entered into a relationship with Jacob Elordi, while Holland was spotted kissing one of his childhood friends — a girl named Olivia Bolton — at the British Summer Time Festival. He and Bolton were reportedly together for a year before they called it quits in April 2020.
“Tom and Olivia remain very close but decided recently it was best for them to be just friends rather than a couple,” an insider dished at the time. “It was all very amicable and they both think it is for the best.”
After that, he was linked to actress Nadia Parkes. In May 2020, Daily Mail reported at the time that they were spending the coronavirus lockdown together and that they were in “an official relationship after dating for over three months.” Then, in July 2020, Holland confirmed their relationship when he shared a snap of Parkes to his Instagram. He didn’t caption the pic, which showed the blonde beauty starring into the camera with ominous clouds behind her.

It’s still unclear why they split up in the end, but by February 2021 it had appeared that the relationship had ended, since Holland talked about being in love in past tense during an interview with Access.
